Scored in the WalMart parking lot!

So I run to Wally World yesterday in the A bone to get a few things. When I came back to the car there's a dude checking it out. Guy was real nice, asked me if I needed any car parts, so I say "whatcha got?"

We go over to his truck and he explains that he's just p***ing through on his way to Wyoming, but needs gas money so he's selling a few things. I was a little su****ious, but everything checked out with him.

First thing he pulls out is a pair of "new in box" Corvette valve covers, in original GM packaging... I about died! My dad's been wanting a set of these for his '32 for as long as I can remember. Date code stamping on the box is 6/87.

"How much?"

"Fifty bucks."

"Will you take $25?"

"I'll take $30."

"SOLD!!!"

He had a REAL nice set of 2.02 heads from PAW still wrapped up and in the boxes. Wanted $400 for them, but I just couldn't swing it. Had a new in box Crane Cam 327/350 for $75 too.

The valve covers came home with me, thought I'd share my $30 SCORE! The casting is the typical rough stuff, but I dig 'em!

 

You do know the vc's are OEM repopps? nothing wrong with that, just an FYI

 

Yeah, I know, and I don't mind. Especially for the price!

This brings to light a phenomenon we talked about locally the other day. There IS NO BETTER WAY to find old tin than A: Drive around in your old car or B: Be coming back from a barnfind roadtrip with something old in your truck/trailor.

It is AMAZING the amount of folks that will talk to you at a gas stop with 411 on some old tine they know of or have. SentinelT and I found a dude with a wood kit for a Model A and a 35 Coupe on the way back here with my A Tudor................all just folks chatting us up. Crazy and fun.

Parking lot scam !!! WARNING !!!

I was the victim of the latest scam now occurring in Walmart parking lots.

Two good-looking young women come to your car as you are parking. One begins wiping your windshield with a rag and the other comes to your window and bends over so far that her breasts just about fall out of her blouse.

While you're distracted, the other one climbs in the back seat and then they both start begging you for a ride home.

Be very wary, because as soon as you start driving, one of them will take off her shirt and rub her breasts on you while the other climbs over the seat and unzips your pants.

This is when they steal your wallet.

I was robbed last Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday;

I couldn't find them on Saturday or Sunday.
