Well- plans change. Big out-of-town show, everyone found a reason not to go. Dwindled from 11 cars down to 3. Damn old farts. So- three of us decided to drive up to Wrightwood for the day instead. Left at 5:30am for the hour drive to 6000 ft. I'm in shorts & tee shirt, well you can see how my wife was dressed. Hell- it was a warm 40 something degrees. We talked Sal out of taking the Willys & bringing his under construction Overland instead. It was his brothers who p***ed away recently. Been in family for 50 years- Sal is un-street rodding it. Fresh out of paint shop & no interior yet, he decided to tow it up & unload it a few miles out of town & drive it in (has wife & granddaughter along). He threw in some patio cushions for the couple of mile drive in. This is going to be one cool ride! When was the last time you saw an Overland at a show? Oh- to add to the drama- Sal left the keys to the padlocks for the trailer ramps at home. All he could find was an old sawzall blade (less sawzall) under the seat of tow vehicle so we had to cut a link of chain on each side to unload it- by hand. Enjoy the pics. http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/slideshow/22415071
Great pictures Steve. Wrightwood is a nice getaway from the LA area. Looks like a good local show. The FOGGER
i cant understand why..its a beautiful ride that one can see has had a lot of thought and planning go into it,.Its an amazing looking car.So what was getting the attention?
The usual- a 300k billet everything 32 Ford, muscle cars, a 33 Speedstar, and the show winner- a Chevy panel in tangerine w/ the biggest billet wheels I ever saw. Those cars seemed to have the biggest amount of people hanging around them. Out of 250 cars that showed up, quite a large percentage were cool though. I think I shot 60 different cars that I liked. That ain't bad.
