57 F100 parts

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by primeisnotacrime, Aug 17, 2009.

  1. So i've been talking to this kid who's got this 57' F100 that he plans on 4X4'n it,he's keeping the body and the box but sellin the ch***is,minus motor/trans
otherwise he says everything else is there, steering, suspension, brakes,Hydraulic clutch parts, ford 9" etc...
my ques is whats salvageable for a traditional build? i've heard the brakes/drums won't work with earlier spindles has to be 56' and older? but the pitman arm will work cuz' it's got the tapered hole for the tie rod end. Will the column and box work to fit into a Model A build? first time with F1 conversion in an A' so i'm gathering as much info as possible..plus the whole damn thing for $150.00 so i couldn't p*** up the deal...

i don't think much is useable. 57 was all new for the the F100. most parts robbed off the trucks for hot rods was from F1s which is 56 and earlier.

the 9 inch is going to be too wide, but you may be able to use some of the parts you got as barter chips in trade for parts you'll need.

if you got a chrome deluxe rear bumper in that package, i'll buy it off you.:D

  3. yeah he said both front and rear bumpers were included, which i told him i didn't need but i'll take em anyways, the 9" i believe is 61"?...i plan on a frame s****ing channel job so that'll be ok,not running fenders i don't know what's all there till he separates the body off of the frame to see what's left...yeah i know most of the good rod parts were on 56' and earlier,i just missed a $200.00 55' f100 on Craigslist all there,1 day late,DAMMIT!

    '57 thru '59 front axles will give a 1 1/2" drop when installed in a '53 -'56 F-100.
    Bolt in swap.

  8. will the 57' box work with a Model A?..i've heard conflicting opinions, no on the box,yes on the pitman arm..

  9. i'm keeping the rearend..i'll be able to run earlier 5.5" wheels with it,plus it's got 3.70's already there, kid says it's in great shape along with everything else..it's all gonna go into a chopped and channeled 30 tudor sedan, build pics on the HAMB soon to follow...
