Narrow Radials versus Bias Ply on 37 Ford

I've got a 1937 Ford, 59AB with 3peed, original rear and 1940 Ford brakes. I've got some old 15" steel/chrome wheels on it with radials. Got those cheap. I'd like to go to 15" Ford steel wheels, hub caps, trim rings and narrow tires. I like the look of the original style bias ply tires but my buddy, who's more into muscle cars, says to go with radials. He says the ride is too rough with bias ply and they will get flat spots. I know they have narrow radials but they are more expensive. I'm looking for some recommendations and advice. Thanks for the help.

 

Radials last longer , are cheaper , and go straighter . I'm ***uming (hoping) you've got fenders on the '37 ... use radials , no brainer .

 

The Coker Cl***ic seems to get the thumbs up (5.5, 6.5. & 7.5 I think) but unfortunately is only available in 16". Beyond them, the rest look like well, radials. Depends if you're OK with that.

 

I know what you mean. I still have some bias-ply tires on old wheels in the shop, basically just garage art now. They did look cool, but they were terribly inferior tires. If you intend to drive your '37 much, you should compromise and run radials.

I'm running the Coker Cl***ic radials ... and they come in fairly narrow widths. Couldn't be happier with how they handle, although I'm only a few thousand miles into the trip.
