theres a '64 c-10 long box for sale in the area, kid wants 2-3000 for it but its a rust bucket. only bed sides...nothing in the way of bed. both rockers gone, huge holes in rears of front fenders. outside edges of floors rusted through. front fascia behind light grill is rusted through. no seats. running 350. flexible tubing exhaust. bad front glass. bad front bumper. dented hood. no "paint" to speak of (just spray paint here and there right over old rusting through paint)

what do you all think i should offer him (im thinking less than 2-3000 but i could be wrong)

    thanks

Pass on this. Much better out there, for same money. The one you describe would be hard pressed to pass as a garbage scow.

well i was hoping to get it for really cheap for just a daily driver/parts hauler. i wouldnt really repair the rust, just stop its growth. it would be a beater.|

but ill keep my eyes open for other possibilities

Hmm...my dad got a '66 longbed, no motor or trans, some damage on the drivers side, rust in the lower parts of the front fenders but all the front sheetmetal and doors are straight. No other rust...floors were even decent, had a lot of options (A/C!) and might even be a 3/4 ton. Awesome painted front bumper, very straight grill.

    .....$100. Not missing any zeros.

damn, thats a good deal. ha

so im getting the impression that this kid (he goes to highschool with me) is just asking waaaaay to much. he probably thinks its worth more than it is because its an old car or something, or maybe hes just hoping to get enough to buy a diff car.

i think ill look around at diff early 60's c-10's

Sounds like my co worker who will sell his pos '70 Maverick with a straight 6 for only $2000....

You should easily be able to find one of those trucks in better shape for less. Or a similar price but with a better looking shortbed instead.

2-3000 for a long box rust bucket with bad glass? What is that kid smoking?

If you really want one of that body style, if you are willing to make the trip to ND I can find one for you cheap enough and in decent enough condition. They are a dime a dozen here.

    about 12 bucks

  11. My brother-in-law sold this to me cheep-cheep and I passed it on to Pork'n beaner for $850, I think....had a good running 350, title, 4 speed, good brakes, glass and minimal rust. No box floor either. It was a good driver and I wasn't surprised to see it in the parking lot of the Ramada at the HAMB drags....his daily driver now.
Your seller is waaaaaaaaaay outta line IMHO. Twelve bucks sounds fair but see it he'd take ten. If he accepts ask if he'll take time-payments.

  12. Well Rockey already posted my line. And it is a good truck.
One of the HAMBers has a '66 down in McAllen for way cheap. I'm into the Pusherman cheap because Rockey passed a good deal onto me but I see good solid trucks all the time for less than 1500.

Your description is worth whatever the chrusher will give you for it.

Hey Rockey, Ravin and I are pullin' the killer mill from my '53 to go in the old beasty today. In about 2 or 3 weeks it should be a hotrod push truck. Nutin' in the world like goin' fast on the cheap.

sorry I just wanted to rob the post.

  13. That price is waaaaaaay outta line.

Here's a pic of my favorite longbed...

For a two to three thousand you should be able to get a clean body with little or no rust. I wouldn't pay more than a few hundred for a rust bucket unless I wanted other pieces of it, and felt they were worth the money.

I have a friend with a '63 C20 that I'm sure you could get for nearly nothing. It needs a radiator, but otherwise is supposed to be usuable. I was thinking too bad you're so far away, but then saw you are in Bothel, and I'm just over on Bainbridge, so its not that far.

PM me if you'd like to follow up on the C20.

I think Rocky got one for free that was better than that. For that kind of money it should be pristene.

Way way way to high!!!! Long beds don't sell, every body wants a short bed. I finally had to dump this 65 for $2500 I came close to parting it out. chromed and camed 283 PG 354 Dana perfect runner and solid body, if it was a short bed I may have got twice as much .

I picked this one up for $2500. So, I think he is way high for a rust bucket.

I have the option of going short bed on the Pusherman, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I had my share of shorts and longs in this body style. I just prefer the long for some unknown reason.
I love these trucks, they can be made kustom, or race or full on work truck/parts chaser and do all well.

That's my dad's, he paid $2000-$2500, I can't remember. But it was pretty straight and very little rust (only surface). And it ran too. Of course it didn't look like what it does in the picture when he bought it...but the only real bodywork was cosmetic.
