I see the next Pomona is not until the middle of October for some reason. Is there any other swaps coming up in the LA / San Diego area before then ?

There is no Swapmeet in September at the Fairplex because of the L.A. County Fair. There is a big Swapmeet coming up at the California Speedway in Fontana the weeknd of September 12-13th.

How is the Longbeach compared to Pomona? Is it worth the drive over from Phoenix?

First off, I go to Long Beach much more than Pomona, it just seems to work out that way.

Long Beach is smaller than Pomona, you can easily see everything there in 3 or 4 hours or so if you move briskly. Pomona, on the other hand, I could run down those aisles and not see everything in 4 hours. I'm not sure if I make it even halfway through.

Pomona has a lot more swap meet 'rust' parts, and long beach has a lot more new stuff. To me it's a lot like buying parts from vendors in hotrod magazine except they're all in one place and you don't have to pay shipping, and hopefully get it cheaper than list. Pomona is just so huge if you're looking for used stuff you have pretty good odds you can find at least one of whatever you want. Much less so longbeach.

So yeah, Pomona is possibly worth the drive from phoenix, but long beach I don't think so really.

I agree with the prior post. There is not much old stuff at Long Beach. If you are looking for car covers or chrome alternators, its ok. The car corral doesn't even come close to Pomona.

Good point about the car corral. You can spend hours there alone at Pomona. I have to avoid it or I'll never get out and buy anything.

Going to Pomona is like going to a car-guy Circus. You can't get there early enough to see everything, you're beat by the time you leave, and you can't wait to go back. It really is great.

The earlier you get there the better, as that heat starts to get to me by 11 or 12.
