Got a new ride- '63 Mercury Monterey Colony Park wagon

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HotRodHabit, Aug 18, 2009.

  1. Just got a new ride--

    1963 Mercury Monterey Colony Park

It has 63k original miles, original paint, 390, beautiful original all red interior, western car, all stock. She runs/drives/rides awesome. I was looking all over the country for a nice wagon, and it turned out that I found the nicest one just down the road in Clearwater.:D

I'm not gonna mess with it much. I'm thinking maybe some of those new Cragar Eliminators (radir knock-offs) with some red-lines, and an early mustang under dash a/c?

Find an Evaporator out of another full-size Mercury or Ford. A Mustang unit won't be large enough to cool that big car. Once you find a large enough evaporator there are a few places down here that should be able to rebuild using new parts so that you won't have any problems. Vintage Air can hook you up with the compressor, brackets, condensor and the lines for the rest of the stuff.

Wear insulated underwear so that your jewels won't get frost bite...

I'm going to second the Eliminators. My wagon photoshop'd with them (and paint, etc):

Now that is a clean-ass ride! Would also make the perfect push vehicle for a FE dragster, any set of era-correct wheels would work, the more rare looking the better.

    What a great vehicle

Love the wagon. It's a beaut. Not sure about the Radirs. Photoshop it with a bunch of stuff before you decide.

Those tuna boats actually go pretty good with that FE motor and make a pretty good tow vehicle.

  19. Thanks for the kind words, fellas! She really is a sweetheart. I got really lucky to find her. Maybe I can find a FED to push around at the Billetproof Florida drags, haha!

  20. I took a ride around the block in it before he bought it... this car is about as original as they come... just enough small flaws so you know it's never been redone, and it runs like a watch.

I agree! the select-air unit in my '64' Galaxie runs ice cold! it was the top of the line air for that car. plus it has some great chrome! they pop up on E-bay now and then!

I bought my country squire a little north of Clearwater and what is with the compasses as mine had one too,is that a normal option for down there.

  26. Yes, Just about any car with more than 2 doors has one... usually dried up and wrinkled... just like the person who stuck it to the dash in the first place
