Well its been ages but I've added some more pictures to my picasa account and I thought I would add to the thread. The other guys have pictures too and Tony (aka Flash) has incredible footage on DVD that he may be convinced to upload onto youtube with enough cajoling. Here's some of us at the salt.

I love this one of Jared.

Well they haven't rusted into oblivion so I would say the guy's cars held up ok. I don't know what they did to clean them other than a lot of water but when I drive my roadster out I'll be investing in some of that salt away solution.

We were on holy ground, this is from last year.

Ive been telling him the same thing. The DVD is done now and it rules but it has been reserved for internal viewing due to "mature content matter" but we could edit a few of Pete's scenes then it would be ready for public consumption.

Fran Bannister made this trip in 1950 .Drove his roadster out to Bonneville, raced ,blew the engine, and installed another engine and drove back to Willmington, MA. He hade his wife and son with him.

Definitely a great trip, misty water colored memories.

@Bearing Burner do you know if Fran's son is involved in hot rodding at all? I've heard Hook is nearly done with the restoration of Fran's roadster and it looks amazing. I think @flatheadtommy was somehow involved in locating that car too.

Franny's son Bobby has been dead for many years now. I was very close with Franny and he always knew where his car was. but the fellow { Skip Brewer ] would never sell it. When Franny learned he had terminal cancer he told me where the car was and asked me to please try to buy it and restore it in his memory. So I tried to buy it after Fran p***ed but to no avail, but I persisted and finally got it 3 years later. The problem for me was that this historic hot rod needed a m***ive restoration requiring a great deal of time and money that at that time I did not have. So I knew that I had to place this car in the right hands. I also knew that Larry Hook had been looking for this car, So I called Larry and Knowing he was a stand -up guy and a TRUE hot rodder I told him that if he would promise to restore this car correctly I would sell it to him. Now 19 years later and a lot of heartache and expense it is DONE and DONE right on correct just as Franny had it and just as Franny hoped it would be. Just as anybody that knew Franny would tell you what a great guy he was. He always went out of his way to help me when I was young sharing advice and parts I might need. He is the reason I try to go out my my way to help these young and TRUE hot rodders I know now, I do it in Franny's memory. One of the biggest regrets I have in my life was when Fran begged me to go back to the salts with him for the second time. I very stupidly thought that my business came first and I didn't go. Now all these years later I cannot recall what I did that week blowing a chance to have Wonderfull memories for the rest of my life. So all you young guys, don't ever make a mistake like that be IMG_0223.JPG IMG_1207.JPG cause you only go this way one time. Another note when Fran made the trip the 1st time, yes he had his wife and young son with him. It of co**** was a open roadster but Fran made up a top that he could ***emble. He had his good friend Fred Cain from Wilmington follow him with a 40 Ford sedan carrying his back-up engine The car he took for the 2nd trip belonged to his good friend Jack Hartney and now belongs to Jack's grandson still wearing Frans number.
