i have a 1962 ford galaxie 500 with the 352 in it that i just converted today to a one wire, internally regulated alternator.
The Galaxie is an externally regulated car... i want to make sure i didnt do anything wrong. (i got all of my advice and schematics right here on the hamb)
Almost everybody says just hook up the wire from the alternator to the hot side of the starter solenoid and remove the old voltage regulator from the equation and you should be good to go.

    1. At first i had removed the wire that ran from the old external regulator from the starter solenoid.
    2. then i placed the "one wire" from the alternator to the hot side of the solenoid.
    3. then i ran positive lead of the volt meter to the alternator using the same post as the "one wire". and grounded the other lead of the meter to the firewall.
    4. once everything was in and hooked up i go to crank it and NOTHING:mad:.

    5. i replaced the wire from the original regulator to the hot side of the starter solenoid. IS THIS WRONG OR CORRECT???? To have the old and new voltage regulators seems odd but its working.
I left the other two wires that were from the generator dangling(I SAY THIS ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE BUNDLED TOGETHER IN THE STOCK HARNESS).
    6. I went and cranked it...badda boom bada bing it started right up, the volt meter was reading 12 volts, lights were bright, everything was fine. did i do this right??? i just want to make sure that i didnt miss a step that could potentially fry something.

Your wiring pulled its power from the regulated side for everything, which is why you had no power inside the car. I removed the regulator wired mine to have a 3 wire alt. I ran a new wire from :
a> batt to starter 2 gauge
b> Alt to starter 10 gauge
c> batt to fuses 10 gauge
