I'm considering buying a remanufactured 327 from a local company. Anyone have experience with buying a remanufactured engine from one of these shops: 1. Motorcrate Engine Sales, http://chspdx.com/html/motorcrate_engines.html 2. Portland Engine Rebuilders, http://www.portlandenginerebuilders.com/engine.html 3. Oregon Engine Rebuilders, http://oregonengines.net/
I just had PER do a bunch of block work and assemble a bottom-end for me. They are friendly and knowledgeable, and it looks like they did a thorough job. A big clean shop full of old guys, which inspires some confidence in me. The down side, is that it took about a month longer than they said it would-- But I figure that's par-for-the course when having cars worked on. Also, not cheap. But thorough.
I would have to say P.E.R. is a great shop. They did a 460 long block for me a while back -good quality machining and parts at a very reasonable price; quick turn-around as well. Will have them balance my early Olds next.....
