Depending on the "feel" you want the ride to have.... If ya want rough,& tough, basic "hotrod" feel go with 3rd pic w/ red wheels. The red Wheels w/ matching red scallops draw your eye across the car well. If ya want clean, classic, refined go w/ 1st pic BUT add lakepipes! The pipes will follow the "chrome" covers really good! And the red "high-lite" rim edge is just enough to bring attention of the red scallops to the wheels. Hope I helped. I can't wait to see the final!...NICK
Can I tell you what I think? Can I? Can I? This is waste of space 'cause Pump already knows how I feel. I would keep the car the way it is if it were mine. It just looks so clean and timeless. I also think that old farts (Rich and I are the same age, about a week apart) should leave the graphics to a minimum. That said, the only thing I'll put my blessing on is a flame job, and then only if it's a minimal presentation. I'm an old guy that has old time ideas, black with flames is TRADITIONAL Frank
Wheels from 1 Lake pipes from 2. straighten out the scallops or go with a different pattern entirely. Craig
LEAVE IT ALONE!!! it is beautiful as is. if you have money that you just GOTTA spend then give it to me. or at least give it to Donzie so he can afford to finish his Chevy.
Flames!...or #1,followed by #3, Not #2, don't like the drooping scallops at all. But like others, I'm not crazy about scallops either.
Pic #1 is gone now. Unchopped Shoe-box w/lake pipe's look's odd. The art work is too big, and overpower's the body. Dark color's and soft metalic's are hand-in-hand w/this era of auto's.
I like scallops but feel they should be straight on top and fewer of them. How about some "Ghost" scallops or better yet a "Ghost" flame job to achieve that time-less look. Less is more!
Drop it off at world HQ...I'll call Gary....we' surprise ya!!! ...but seriously folks....I like number one with even a little shorter licks.....flippers and cutouts.
keep the olds wheel covers and lake pipes, now the scallops they remind me of 80's style graphics which is not cool. i would just go with original style scallops or some flames, thats my 2 cents
better still and i would'nt give you a hard time if you went that route, but do me a favor and LEAVE IT ALONE!!!! it has "CLASS" as it is and it looks "TIMELESS". it will NEVER go out of style the way it sits now... just give me the money you were gonna spend on it. i have a hundred projects that could use the cash infusion!!
1. Your drawings are excellent. I don't think anyone noted that, and amidst some of the negative feedback, I wouldn't want you to get disheartened about the drawings. 2. I am not familiar with your car as it sits now. Several people have commented to "leave it alone!" Perhaps they are right. 3. I love shoebox Fords. 4. The scallops you have shown look to be late 80s - 90s style. If that's what you are shooting for, go for it.* * That's my polite way of saying, "don't do it."
Seriously guys... to those of you that haven't seen this car, you have NO IDEA how "Just right" this car is as it sits!!! Leave the Damn thing alone Rich!!!
Rich, I know you've been waiting to hear from me before you actually decide. Of the 3 I like #2 the best. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the curved design of the scallops. It doesn't really bring out the lines of the car. I think it's a bit over the top but I say dare to be daring. As is, the car is really nice but not a head turner. Your last 2 cars were. You've got a nice rag top for "subtle", make this one jump. The wheel covers in the first pic are too common, and the red wheels are TOO much red. I'm a fan of dump tubes but with that scallop job the lake pipes look right on. Ok, get Gary to make some slight adjustments to the paint scheme and you're ready to go.
This is very subjective, but I would change the proportions of the scallops. I would also avoid the scallops that droop downward, they do not compliment the basic body lines of the body style. Focus on the getting the graphics 'right on', you can swap the caps and wheels at any time. It looks like you are going to have a nice ride!
scallops and caps from #1 lakes a nice 3 in chop are you're in the money in my book im lookin to score a shoebox too
[ QUOTE ] This is very subjective, but I would change the proportions of the scallops. [/ QUOTE ] My thoughts also. Here's number 3 with #2 wheels (or #1 with the one long scallop). I thinned the scallops up a bit. Here all the scallops are pointing down in the front. This way, the lines of the scallops match the down in front, raked stance of the car. A nice detail would be to have end of the long scallop line right up with the tailight wind split. I think scallops that drop down in the rear can really work. But they work best when on a matching low in back, tail dragger car. Scallops again matching the stance, angle of the car. Your concept overall is good, black car with red scallops and white striping is classic. And always dramatic.
One thing people don't think about when they do scallops, or flames down the whole side of the car, Is if you get tired of them, you have to paint the whole damn car again. If just the hood and fenders were done, you could repaint just those parts. Here's a picture of my car. I wish I wouldn't have gone down the body. I've owned this car for close to 15 years, and kinda wish it was all orange now. Dean
Number 2 with hubcaps is my favorite. Those scallops look real nice, evenly spaced. Reminds me of my 1933 Riley sprinter black with red scallops.
