It's called a distributor...not a ****ing "dizzy". One of my biggest pet peeves. We can all thank "The Fast and The Retarded..err Furious" generation for this term.

"Ron Kelly's" ignitions really come from http://www.fsignitions.com/ They also have a pertronix ignitior on a plate that fits into your stock distributor. I'm running one of those.

They have also just released one that looks stock, but has the auto advance built in. The guy told me it's going to cost a lot lot lot of money. He's going to have it on display at the 2008 Model A world meet here in Dallas on June 22-27th though.

Anyways, I'm running the pertronix adapted distributor, and I'm happy with it.

I suppose there's always something better to spend your $$$ on...the price is reasonable and it works, why change it. I've run a Mallory for several years without problems.

Nope, you've got us Brits to blame. I've heard them called a dizzy since I was a kid :)

Agree with you about the film though :D

  9. You can buy a Pertronix kit for your mallory from any auto parts that carry's Pertronix. The advantage of the FS distributor is 29 degrees advance at low RPMs. I think the Mallory only gets 18 degrees. I have run both and never had any problems with the Mallory. I think most of the problems with the Mallory are caused by too much unneeded tinkering.

I run Roto-Faze distributors. Calibrated degree plate on the outside.
Full centrifugal. Easy to adjust. Easy to recurve. Uses standard Ford points. Will turn 10000 rpm if need be...Looks kewl.

  15. Old thread but Dean Robertson here in my area runs a Honda DIZZY adapted to his Bangers.

He did a seminar on em at one of the Iowa Hillclimbs int the last couple years.

Othr than adjustment of advance curve , odds are your mallory is fine. I do the old (cast iron) and the newer aluminum units for the model As. I also convert these to electronic either pertronixs or the GM HEI with inside chrysler parts etc. I have one one the bench right now doing a HEI conversion, look for a hamb tech article next week or so.
