My dad is looking for a T-bird for me,so I thought I would start getting some ideas. I want it MY WAY,not his way! Thanks Dillon
I've posted pictures of my old Bird before. Excuse the wheels. Every panel on the car has been altered in some way. Was originally a coupe. No side gl***, new rear wheel wells, shaved everything, kustom dash and counsel, extended the hood 3 inchs, filled the scoop, and a ton of work. Went to a new owner who put the wheels on but I still miss the car.
63's have that spear that runs down the side and hooks into the door. 61-62's don't and the taillights are different. 63 taillights look the best to me.
No Problem... The '61 has the 4 parallel "spears" on the quarter panel, the '62 has 3 rectangles in a row on the quarter, the '63 (one year only) has the body line that runs from the front fender to the door with the angled chrome on the door. I'm still trying to learn the differences between the '64-'66....
Yeah sorry I was referring to the body line on the 63. I forgot all about the little spears on the 1/4 panel. My bad.
thats cool dillon, i can see you rolling around town in one of those! you can find them pretty clean. i might have a line on one also... matt
Here's a local (Seattle area) one I've always liked. Firestar is one of my favs too. Photo by Tim Bernsau, R&C mag. from their website.
here is mine before we changed the wheels & tires & also some pics of what i'd like mine to look like... eventually!!
Love the Radirs on there - that's the way I want to go eventually - here's mine at the moment It's a mild custom, and it'll probably stay that way.
Hey "car guy",it's nice to see more pics of your 'bird! Will you have time this weekend to resolve your top problems?
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=3709&pictureid=30484 Probably to girlie for you, but my wife kinda likes it....
That's the first '63 Bird I've seen and actually liked. Nice car. I've never been a fan of the side panels on them, but your car integrates it nicely.
STUMPY , the t-bird in post #3, tu-tone green w/supremes (3rd car down) is for sale, the guy who owns it works for me, we redid the whole car at my shop about 2 years ago, p.m. me if your interested.
The 'Bullet Birds' are cheap and have lots of potential, but I'd seriously rethink the WWW idea. Skinny whites are much more fitting on a 60's car, nobody wanted WWW's by the early 60's. I doubt that the wide whites were even an option on a Bullet Bird and someone building a custom then wouldn't have wanted an out of date 50's look on their car either.
