hi to all you HA/GR people out there i have been reading lots of interesting thread on the hamb but now its my go, because I debut my FULLY SIX HA/GR at willowbank raceway in Queensland Australia on the weekend at the Nostalgia nationals 1st run off the trailer a very nervous 14.84 @ 90.44 MPH by the end of the weekend and with the ***istance from fellow HA/GR racers KEVIN UNGER and Steve + Jeff Danglmaier my best time was 14.4 @ 92.04 MPH (14.4 on a 14.59 Breakout to go into the finals) the FULLY SIX RACING HAMBster runs a slant 6 bored out, head job, triple SU' Carbs, 3 speed box and toyota diff (4.11 I think) 16" dia rims + 27" tall firestones it is lacking top end speed, thru the traps the RPM is approx 5300 the engine is good for more but its a matter of finding out how total weight with me is 1950 LB's
yes it was a great weekend and it was good to see you guys again, heres the photos you sent me i still need to chopp up the videos that robbo took, i will tri and do it this week
To all the HA/GR racers at Willowbank Nostalgia Nationals, cograts to a well contested event. Even more congrats to the new boys on the block for their consistent if slow racing that won them top spot. Just goes to show, slow can be winner. Just got the new rule book ANDRA page 9 really interests me. What do we run in? if it is "In cl*** Index" as it should be for new or amended cl***es we cannot break out, only set new indexes for that cl*** on review by ANDRA.? maybe that is what those ANDRA officials where doing? As regards to what cl*** we are in under ANDRA page 38 tells all. And the plot thickens the stirrer strikes again
That would be my red car jeff 21. It is one of your ****rel ford 6 motors made by Edsel which was condemend by ford and renamed Mercury Commet. nearly the same motor we had in our Falcons here in Oz. 223 Cu". The head is off a much later ford falcon motor only made here in Oz. It is a 2V head. Your US cousins made an aluminium copy with better breathing as an after market. HA/GR's are not allowed to use them, must be production. see more pics my albums.
We have found the problem why the flattie was running way off pace. The adjustable lifter on no.1 cylinder had backed itself off to the tune of about 250 thou , so we were not running on that hole too well. Also the 6000 rpm burnouts have caused the valves to come into contact with the head a few times. Nothing too serious and easily fixed , need to hold back on the revs at burnout I think. I think I should maybe wear my gl***es when racing to keep the red lights to a minimum.
QQ has'sent it dorned on you yet I'm the HAMB stirrer, I just like to keep the pot brewing with whatever to keep all on thier toes, thinking what the ****** hell am I on. Thats my secret. What ever it is it makes my car run sweet.
