Are the exhaust manifolds for a 1960 144" Falcon six cylinders the same as for the later 200" engine?
There are several manifolds for the 144, 170, 200 series listed in the 60-69 Ford parts books BUT chances are the bolt surface is identical on all. Differences would be in the inclination and position of the manifold exit.
Yes they are. Years ago I broke the manifold on my '62 with a '65 200, and replaced it with one from a '60
yes and no... the 60-late 62 production had a flat gasket between the exhaust pipe and the manifold. The manifold for those years were a little smoother looking in the casting but the ports showed to flow less volume. All the manifolds from 63 and up are cast thicker and flow better than the first production type. and use a convex dough nut type gasket between the manifold and pipe. It was quite common for a 60-62 to be retrofitted with a latter/better manifold. FrankBoss
144 170 200 and 250 all have the same exhaust manifold i have 1 off of a 144 on my 250 and ive also had 1 off of a 170 on it to any of them will work
all of the factory cast exhaust manifolds for the 144-250ci ford six flow like ****, but the later 200-250ci manifolds sport a 2" outlet and are considered to offer mild performance gains once cleaned up. California manifolds are equipped with bungs for the thermactor system and therefor to be avoided, much like the units from the late 70's and the early 80's which came with a catalytic converter built into the manifold. Speco once made a dual-out cast header (similar to the cast headers on true HiPo-289) for the Australian market in the early 60's. From the info I have gathered about those dual-out manifolds for the falcon six, they seem to be really rare.
I saw a caster dual outlet once on ebay...wished i had a chance to buy it my self. I often kick around making my own header for my ausie headed US 200. FrankBoss
