    Here's a picture of Jeff's car:

I'm also running black wheels and have chrome acorn nuts on the front. Here is my car:

I plan on eventually running chrome reverse wheels with Cal Custom spider caps and medium whitewalls.

You need to decide what era you are shooting for. Plain steelies were popular in the 60s. Chrome reverse wheels were THE early 60s show custom car choice. Spoked wheels came along around the mid-60s. Once the "open" wheel look hit, hubcaps were for squares.

WTF! When I typed this post and previewed it, it has paragraph spaces AND the images appeared. Dunno what went wrong. [IMG]

I like it, too. This is a good example of the difference al***ude and wheel choice make.

I have to be honest, though, and say that with that stance, you need something much bigger than the stock six. That car is the opposite of a sleeper. It screams, "I'm fast!" But with a 170? It ain't fast. [IMG]

My car is so low that people expect it to be slow. [IMG]

=============== I have a 200 cid engine with an Australian Ford cylinder head in the works. It will be fun, mayb not too fast.

I've owned fast cars. A 10 second street car in the mid 1980's, it ran mid 10's at 134 mph

Then I built a FWD 1970 Chevelle with a 6-71 blown small block chevy. Many folks asked if the car would be faster if it was RWD.

    yes sir,

A T-425 trans axle from a 66 Toronado. Same internals as a T-400 ****** that run in reverse rotation.

I recently snapped some photos of broken parts from the trans axle of the car to send to a net friend.

The FIRST time I pulled a 1-2 shift with all 8 barrels of the Holley carbs open, the chevelle blew the drive chain apart in the trans axle.

Running black steelies and chrome acorn lug nuts also... Must be a popular choice! Would like to put some chrome reversed wheels on it sometime sooner or later. 175/75R14s all around.

Crosley, that looks alot like my Ranchero when I first got it. It had faded black paint, the long shackels on the back and the factory sky high front stance. I lowered the front and put 14x7 Torq Thrust look-alikes with 185-70-14 blackwalls on it. Then it got t-boned and the rear wheels were broken. I don't have any pictures of it like that though.

This picture was taken two years ago. The wheels are dull now and primer and Florida don't mix.

It has 14x6 Radir Bullets with 185-70-14 skinny whites, 2 inch blocks in the back and 1.5 coils cut up front.

1975 Maverick parts. Non power disc brakes. I bought new rotors & bearings with seals. A fresh master cylinder too.

I unbolted the portioning valve and line fittings from the same maverick car.

I bought repo upper early V8 mustang control arms since my early Falcon arms had the wrong ball joint design

I reused the 6 cylinder steering parts with some adapter sleeves for the tie rods at the spindles from

    www.mustangsteve.com

FWIW======== I cut 1/2 a coil off the OEM 6 cylinder springs when I installed the disc brake parts. I may need to cut some more off.

I'm the friend of alleycat's w/the falcon. I really dig your ride and was wondering how much you dropped it and what tire/wheel sizes you went with. Planning on dropping mine next weekend. Here's a photo of what it looks like "virtually" dropped and shaved in microsoft paint.

    Crosley,
there's neat trick to do that htey did on the Shelby's.
Tkae where the upper A-arm bolts to the inner fender well and re-drill the holes 1.5 inches up and about .5 inches toward the back of the car.
It lowers the ride and increases the handling a bunch. There are templates out there to be exact.

The "Shelby Modification" is actually 1" down and 1/8" toward the back- unless you want bumpsteer and to raise the car. . . think about it - if you move the upper arm mounts down then the arm moves up at the ball joint and the car sits lower

But you shouldn't do it if you are cutting coils - the two changes to geometry don't mix since each one contributes to stressing the ball joint- if you are lowering it just cut coils.

  24. Horseshoe: How are you lowering the *** end? I'll be lowering mine (61 Comet) soon. I cant find lowering blocks for comets OR falcon's. On the front I'm gonna lop a couple rings off... Whenever I see the car I cant believe how high it is. When I'm pulling up behind it I can see the exhaust sys, and almost the whole diff.

Get lowerin blocks from kragen or autozone. I got 3 inch blocks only thing yer gonna have to get are custom made u bolts. I could only get 3/8 u bolts and i believe my original u bolts were 7/16. It's simple drill out the brackets to fit 3/8. Make sure whoever makes you the u bolts makes them long enough. You can cut off whatevers hangin after you mount the blocks. I cut 2 coils out of the front. I'll try postin pics to give you an idea of how she'll sit. Oh yah its a 60 falcon.
