Hello, this is my 1st post, bringing back a nailhead after a 40 year slumber. Its ready to run after oil pan cleaning, gas lines. Anyone know where to get parts for this thing? I'm a Chev guy, thats my daily driver 37 im tha boats shadow. this buick is a horse of a diff color...Haha. all help needed and thanks!
Glad to hear you will be dropping the pan for a good cleaning! Your 1st oil change should be only a few hundred miles using detergent motor oil to clean out the remaining junk in the block. Before draining you might want to add motor flush, again because of the length of time it's been sitting. Follow the directions on the can, and Don't drive it or rev it up. With 'flush' in the oil it no longer has the viscosity to protect your engine under load. Just so you know, some people don't use motor flush because it removes all of the cooked on deposits, and with those removed sometimes it allows parts to be a little loose. My thinking is if the motor's being held together by 'deposits', that's just a break-down ready to happen somewhere other than your driveway. If that motor's going to let you down, it's best if it happens at home. Your motor being low milage, should really clean up nice. Good luck on the old Buick! It's a nice looking car! Welcome onboard Giff13, that's a sweet ole Buick, looks like you can drive her the way she is! Enjoy the Hamb, you should beable to get what parts you need here for the most part, (no pun intended).
