I'm quite blessed in that I'm only needed when I'm needed. Otherwise dont be seen. Every one knows where I am and has my cell number. When needed the sandwich goes back in the bag and we go. They like it and I get to F/O all day. I drive a fork and big truck and it works out very well. I got caught one day and had no worries. The "boss" and I spent 2 hrs or so gawkin and now he's a member and calls to say look at this thread. I make good money and not really worried about layoff. course.....

ditto..but i multi task, and not on all the time..it is down in the corner, while im drafting (CAD) or doing spread sheets, or whatever else i do on the computer..if i see something that peaks my interest i click on it and check it out..than **** im back to work..
I dont smoke either, and dont get breaks..hell i feel like im justifying myself already..like as if i need too..
sometimes it takes me a while to respond or type in things because i go back and forth..sometimes i even loose my train of thought as to what i want to say on here because of going out and coming back....what was i talking about again?:p

I try to keep it to lunch breaks or before/after work. I have dial up at home so it takes forever to do anything. Also when my coworker was still smoking I'd pop it up while he was lighting up. I figured it he's allowed to feed his nicotine addiction why shouldn't I be able to feed my automotive addiction. If I find an interesting thread that i was reading I'll keep it up in the background and switch over to it if I'm waiting for one of our sun dial slow programs to start up. Once in a great while I'll pop on for a minute or two because I have to take a mental break. If you were an engineer and dealt with sales guys all day that only cared about selling stuff, not if it's actually going to work you'd need a mental break too. For mental breaks I used to tell stories but every time i told one I'd get ridiculed or told the story was to long and get to the point. My computer monitor doesn't talk back to me.

I used to ask if I could go out in the shop and help the guys out when we were slow. I always got shot down by my boss because he didn't want us working out there. I'd rather be out there being useful than trying to figure out something to keep me busy at my desk. I don't even ask anymore. Heck that was about a year and a half ago...

Gmail I usually keep up all day. I get maybe one - three emails that I actually read through the course of the day, usually those are in when I come in in the morning.

  4. I go on everyday in school. I just have two pages and flip over when the teacher walks by. This site is the best man I couldn't live without it. HAMB for life!

I do it in between saves and opening of spreads. Normally I can get my work done pretty fast and can pace myself accordingly to each project. My director knows that I am always on this thing but since the deadlines are always met there's no reason to not let me.

I work in an environment where we have youtube races and my boss sends me disgusting fetish **** on my desktop every morning with the ***le "your mom's new job" so I am pretty fortunate that things are relaxed around here.

surprised to see anyone is still working, Opted out a month or so ago myself. Would check HAMB on breaks and sometimes lunch but it's kinda hard to run an old manual boring mill and cruise the HAMB.

Ok, that's right. However I do try to keep my hambing limited to pre/after hours or during lunch. I may be signed on and lurking but my actual participation is usually limited to those times. Unless it's a subject that I just can't refrain from.

Besides, we're in the car/hot rod business so that should be justification enough to stay "in tune" with everything and everybody. Hell, sometimes that's how I keep track of my boss...and my hubby...and son....etc... ;)

Used to go on the HAMB at work, until the "Policy" came out. The "Policy" does not allow foul language or girlie photos. Seems Union guys were saving **** photos on C Drives, they got canned. So even the avitars and cuss words could trigger a "meeting" I no longer view the HAMB at work. They will even give you grief for political cartoons the could be offfffensive to the senssssitive. Miss it at work.

Alright, I will be the first to take the unpopular road. I love the HAMB, it is my favorite website hands down. But never on company time. I tend to take the more "traditional" approach with my job and put in an honest days work while I am there. Especially in today's economy, there are millions of people out of work that would die to have a job (your job), and work as hard as possible while they are there. Sorry to be a buzz kill:rolleyes:

I check it most everyday during my lunch, not when I'm on the clock though. I don't wanna give them more of reason to hate me....

I figure I don't get paid enough not to. I consider it the 'PERK' of my current employer :D

My work gets done and I do it well. A little HAMBing for a few hours a day only helps me be productive.

Desk jobs **** and we have to have a will to live right?

I teach computer stuff at a high school so my computer's always on. I'm on the HAMB all day and so far, the school IT police haven't blocked it out yet. If and when they do, I'll have to use the iphone...

I work from home, so I can go on the HAMB anytime, but I have to force myself to get off and do my work instead. Sometimes that's hard and I spend a bit too much time on the HAMB.

Do what I did. Show your boss the HAMB and get him hooked too. :D The down side of that is I'm at work, and my boss is at the HAMB drags.

My job entails about 3.5 hrs of intense work a day with an hours training and 2 to 3 hrs of slack time that I spend quite a bit of here on the HAMB. On my own laptop though.
No problem with the boss as long as it is not a busy time and I have my training squared away.

But once in a while I drop everything and run to the window to watch the Yellow Beach Staggerwing that drops in on occasion or the flying crane that is working fires out of the airport at the moment fly in and out.
