My brother has this 59 Cornet and it has the sweetest interior. I love the forward look cars. It also has a great running Poly motor in it. He has the 2-4bbl intake he bought at Carlisle for $75 a few yrs ago. Plenty of room, hell yours could hold a small party and the beer keg!

    Get That Car !

  3. Hey gotgas, FRIGGIN AWESOME PHOTOSHOP!!!! The car is a custom, the reason I say its a 9 p***enger wagon is because I noticed that it has the grab handles on the rear "floor" closest to the tailgate and while looking at old ad videos, it looks like the same ones that they use when setting up the rear facing seat.... Im sure if your car has them you'll be able to enlighten me once again.

lucky it has a crank up rear window, my 59 has the power window unit. It works, had to find a tailagte switch. I too need to replace the windshield in my 59 Wagon. Anyone know what the interchange on those are. On one other forum, someone tried to tell me the wagon, sedans, conv. were all different really can't believe it.

Those are the handles to lift up the spare tire well cover. It would be a third row seat... if there is a seat under there. :D All 9 p***enger wagons (and optional on 6 p***) had a "side skirt" deal cutout of the quarter panel behind the p***enger side rear wheel, with the tire up inside. You can see it here in this picture. The spare tire is housed up in there. You can also see the step on the bumper to get up in the rear facing seat.

Rob, the '59 Plymouth wagons have their very own quarter panels, not shared with anything else. Your car is great!

The '57-59 Mopar wagons share gl*** with all '57-59 sedans, both 2dr and 4drs. The hardtop and convertibles have interchangable gl***, even though there were minor variations of the contour of the factory gl*** throughout the years. You might hear someone mention the "bubble" gl*** from convertibles, it has never been reproduced and an original usable one is worth a dang fortune.

  10. Ive found a place on ebay that sells the windshields I found out that the code is w454 for the windshield try a search on there... price of 500 plus 275 shipping= ouch :(

59rat, you might have the rear cargo area curved gl***????

  11. I told ya i got the windshield, 150 plus shipping!

  12. That sounds damn good!!!

Yes I am sure I have a pair.

  15. A child lock? On a 1957 Plymouth wagon? No. No child lock.... kids didnt wear helmets when they rode their bikes then either! :D
I'm guessing the inside mech. is locked up or the gl*** is off the track.

  16. thanks fiddysix but we kinda already cleared that up... although it kinda is an intricate setup that i doubt a small kid could figure it out, thus making it childproof....

  17. I have a bit more info for you guys.... I found out that its being sold on bill of sale only, he does have the keys, and the motor is siezed :( :(.... Im kinda down about the whole thing now..... And the guy said he wants to go look at it this weekend to make a final decision on price, because I set him strait on the gl*** issue (he thought that 4 door wagon gl*** would fit the curved back gl***...) He hasnt seen it in a while, so he says he has a "rosier" view of it.... we'll see what happens..... what do you guys think????

Still worth it IMO. But hopefully you can talk him down some.

  19. My main thing is that I dont want a giant paper weight.... and I know that for $1500 I can get a more complete car....

  20. More complete? It's not missing that much. Either you can swap out the gl*** and put a motor in it, or not, I guess it's up to your ability to fix it.

You may be able to get a more "complete car" as in maybe running with gl***, but, can you find another 57 2 door wagon that still has it's floors and hasn't been screwed with for that kind of money?
Personally i really don't know, but i'd think it would be hard.
IF this particular body style/year is one you've always wanted it may be something to really think about before p***ing on it.
    Best of luck.

Why mess about with an adaptor when a mopar will bolt right to it?

It will be far cheaper and easier to put a mopar motor back into than try to adapt the small block chevy your friend has convinced you to put in it.

  26. Mainly because I dont see too many mopar engines for sale around here.... I can find ford/chevy small blocks on craigslist around here for a dime a dozen.... but its looking like Im gonna be looking for a mopar

First of all, it's not a Torqueflite. Count the ****ons. ;) It appears to be a Powerflite (four ****ons, R-N-D-1). It wouldn't be worth messing with anyway.

Find any Mopar big block or small block and stuff it in there. Your cheapest and easiest solution is to find a complete running car and yank it's drivetrain. Although I gotta tell you, a SBF sure was simple. :D

  28. Ok, so any mopar engine will bolt up w/o any issue... how involved was a sbf swap???

Not exactly. Any early Hemi & hemi based Poly, & "A" Poly up to '62 will bolt in, BB won't. Hmmm did you say auto or stick? Seriously a 63 or later engine & matching ****** would be a good choice, or a pre '63 (non BB) with an adaptor & modern small block bell 727 ****** would work.

  30. Damn guys Im just laying out my options and trying to get as much info as I can.... no need to bash.... I would try my damndest to keep it all mopar... I would like to keep it push ****on, however if the trans is junk like someone suggested on here ill be looking for a donor. Take it easy, no need to raise your blood pressure.

Oh and did I tell you that I plan on painting it flat black with red rims so it can look more like a rat rod??? :p J/K
