Broke the generator on the desoto and wanted to know if anyone knows of an alternator that fits my 1953 desoto powermaster thanks

  2. I doubt there is a direct bolt on, you'll have to adapt one. Be aware you'll need to change the wiring a bit to convert over to an alternator.

if it were me it would be whatever working alternator I had lying around. mopar purists may want to use a mopar alternator.

then I'd go to the s**** pile and bend, cut and weld whatever I had until it worked as a bracket and could be used with one of the new fan belts I have that didn't fit another project.

are you 12V neg?? If so if you get a single wire gm style alt, take the output wire to the wire on the BAT termial of the voltage regulator, abondone the others in place or you can remove the VR. If you are still running the 6 you can fab a lower mount with some threaded rod and some jam nuts. You can retain the upper bracket.

there is a bigger problem with that conversion. your power steering box is mounted 9piggiyback) on your generator. . . . I am sending you a PM.:)
