Technical A 50s Survivor Deuce on the road again!!

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by daveydeuce, Aug 25, 2009.

  1. Well, its only been 40 years in the resurrection, but finally can drive it. Originally chopped/built in the 50s with a 392 Hemi. Behind header panel is a name, Jack Schafer Oct 16 1958, I ***ume he was the individual that did the custom work, its all hammer welded and leaded. Anyone recognize the name? Bought it in Eugene OR in 69 for $125, less Hemi and took it to Alaska and started on it. Brought it with me to AZ in 93 and continued to dabble with it. Have licensed it every year since 70 to keep my plate but was never able to drive it untill now. After many changes of mind, engines and styles, its roadworthy and hope to drive it to Primer Nats for a shakedown run, then maybe some better paint and upholstory. Couple of pics from 69 and the rest from today. Dave
Added a couple of eng pics. Added pic of the header with Jack's name. Anyone know him from Pacific NW? Eugene/Springfield OR area. Deuce also had been painted "Metallic Lavender", 64 Pontiac GTO, Gran Prix color prior to the blue when I bought it in 69.

  21. I only have one pair of Mag 3 1/2in Torq Thrusts, but have a pair of Alum 3 1/2in 200S "Daisy Petal"s on the front of my Deuece Roadster and 10in Alum DPs on the rear.
The TTs are left over from my early 60s Drag racing days, they were on my A/MS 60 Vette with a 427, Hilborn inj Chevy with a "Cal Hydro" 4 spd hydro. Ran hi 10s/130s.

  28. I just got mine on the road in March after buying it in '75. You beat me by a few years, Don't it feel just GREAT after all that time. I'm sure all my friends and family thought L'd never finish it.
Have a lot of fun now, Bob.
