Actually, the one you're thinking about could be built as a cabrolet or a coupe. The roadster windshield would be way different. My brother had that model when I was a kid.
The one to get is the AMT release with the early Chopped 3 Window Top, the Stock Top, and the Roadster Windshield. Long out of production.... I doubt this is that one being re-released.....I believe the Fidgiter used the AMT kit as a base for his car.....Nice BTW...Centurion9
This is the old Monogram 1/24th scale kit.....not the AMT kit which is 1/25th.....the Revell?Monogram kit is due for reissue around Oct/Nov this year, that pic shows what is planned to have it look like BUT don't count your chickens just yet.........lol........bte I have a heap ordered but I'm in Oz..... www.scaleautomobilia.com.au....... andyd
I wasn't even paying attention that it was Revell. Mine is definitely AMT. Not familiar with the monogram kit. They also show to be re-releasing the Model A Coupe in the Fall. Sweet....
The last AMT 3-window chopped top coupe was the "Flower Power" issue. The last 3-window coupe was the one with the yellow box art from 1989. Resin chop tops are available from Modelhaus and Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland. I'll watch for the Monogram re-issue though. Never can have enough '36 Ford models. Bob
I built the street rod version that came out in 76? but it did not come with any top options, you bought the coupe and convertible seperately and I have both. The coupe came molded in red and the convertible in yellow, since both came with full house flatheads I might take both apart and rebuild in 50s style as they came with mag wheels.
I went down to the local hobby store to get the new 32 5 window and they were sold out. More coming in tomorrow. The owner of the shop said he heard the 36s are not to far away from being released. So they should be available real soon. Also Jimmy Flintstone has a 36 tudor, chopped 3 window and chopped 5 window coupes available in resin. The tudor is a slantback.
That will be a nice kit when it comes out if it is indeed a re-issue of the original. I too have the AMT kit from the 80's that is a convertible with the option to build as a 3-wdw coupe. Nice kit back then. I also found one of the old Monogram kits as pictured above (for $5!) and it is still full of various custom parts. The car itself was built and long gone but all the pieces are there to build one of the later releases as a Cabriolet if I want to. Check the picture of my trunk display I came up with a couple weeks ago for a local show!
You can use any Monogram 36 coupe kit to use the convertible parts on since they are based on the original,I found this out with the 34 coupe kit as I had the convertible parts and put them on the 90s chopped top kit.
