Does anybody have any more pictures of Hank Negley's roadster in street trim? Was it ever featured in a magazine? I think it is one of the best looking early roadsters. I could only find this one pic in Don Montgomery's Hot Rod's of the Forties...
Nealin if that is Don Montgomery's irst book there are a few other shots of the roadster, none of the interior I don't think
This isn't the came car, but the roof line is similar and that is what makes them different from the rest. IMHO The new mega-buck top is similar but, but not right.(for me) P.S. These wheel don't appear to have the artillery slots. truck?
[ QUOTE ] P.S. These wheel don't appear to have the artillery slots. truck? [/ QUOTE ] No, those aren't wide five, they are Lyon? covers on 16 in wires, Ford or Kelsey. I would really like to have a set, but they seem to be out of my price range. Neal
Totaly with you Neal ! Allways had that deuce as one of my favorites since I first saw it in Montgomerys`books .`Have nut seen it featured in a magazine , But I kinda wonder why not. Maybe "Speed Age" or some of the other early mags had a feature on it ? Tommy , There is something wrong with the pic you posted , Did you "photoshop" it ?
HI PAULA It will be HIGHLY Appreciated if you could share some pix with us . Your father sure had one EXCELLENT car !! Klaz
Paula, thanks for joining! Please post all the pics you have and EVERY story you can remember. One of my favorites also, thanks for this thread, Neal.
Hello Paula. Thanks for coming on board with some info on your dad's car.. As the others have already said, we would certainly appreciate the opportunity to see more of a car that epitomizes the "look" of a perfect roadster. Again, welcome to this board. John, aka "oldandkrusty"
Hey Paula. Have you been lurking around waiting for an opportunity to join? I noticed this post was your #1. Be asured that any kind of info like stories and best of all pictures, you might deside to share will be highly appreciated. Now you know that there are even fellas on the other side of the globe that have been daydreaming over you old mans car. Welcome to the HAMB. Paul
Wow...I missed this response! Has anyone heard anymore from Paula? I would love to find out more about Hank's roadster. I just sent an email to Paula, hopefully I get a response. Neal
I missed this post first time around, was over seas. I hope that Paula does come back to us. there must have been a fair bit of ch***is work to get Hanks car sitting that low in the rear. Having set mine up I know that getting an original 32 spring to sit that low takes alot of mucking around. great car. hope there is more photos of it.
BTTT What about this post. ???? Sad it never went any further. Would be nice to see some pics of this nice old roadster. Paul
I'm a friend of Hank Negley's and found this site by doing a Google search on his name. I knew him from shortly before he retired until he died. He talked about his roadster some, but I wish I had asked more and I'm interested in learning anything about it. I'm not really a hot rod buff (although I did have a TR3 when I was in college). My ***ociation with Hank was more from jazz festivals and swing dancing. I'm going to post this on the thread on Hank's roadster that someone else started.
Nice to have you on-board Dwight. I gives us a real buzz, knowing that we're reaching out to hot rodding's forefathers.
Hi Dwight . If you know Paula , then please tell her that we all would LOVE to see more pix of her dads deuce ! It`s on our Xmas wish list Klaz
This one of them posts where we are still waiting for the HAMB magic that usually comes along. ...still hoping. Paul
I don't know Paula very well. I met her at her father's funeral. I'll try to get a hold of her. In the mean time, if anybody can give me some information about Hank's roadster, I would appreciate it. I don't even know if he made it in the thirties or the forties. Hank told me about seeing his roadster at a car show or something many years later and talking to the current owner. One of Hank's plans for his retirement was to make another roadster. He bought a lot of equipment, but never got very far.
Hi Dwight Sorry about the stupid quality , but I have no scanner ... Pix taken with a dig-cam from a book named "Hot Rods in the forties " .. published by Don Montgomery .. ( ... Into early Hot rodding ? Well , GO GET Dons books !.. Like ALL of them .. Klaz
Hello, this is Paula, Hank's daughter. I haven't checked into this website in awhile, and was quite surprised to see all of these responses from all of you who remember my dad's roadster. I recently moved to San Diego and I do still have these photos, but they are presently in storage. When I can get them out of storage I will post them, but it may be awhile. The photo posted here/below of my dad and his roadster with the police officer was actually taken when my dad drove the roadster back to Minnesota to ask my mom to marry him. On that same trip he stopped in Indianapolis to go to the Indy 500, and I also the photos he took that day of the race. For those of you who know of or belong to SCTA, my dad was a lifelong member of GearGrinders, and I have established an annual award with Gear Grinders in my father's name to commerate his love of all things roadster and racing. I can be e-mailed directly at paula.negley@live.com.
HI PAULA Welcome back ! Take your time , No Hurry We will highly appreciate those pix whenever you have time to post them ! THANX Klaz
Welcome to the HAMB Paula, your Dad's car was "just what we like" on this board. Thanks for checking back in, and we'll be looking forward to those pics.
Paula Negley, & rest of you wanting more pix of Hank, this is a photograph that Don Montgomery had in his book, enjoy!!!------Don
When the top was done on my Roadster we used the Negley Roadster picture in the Montgomery book as an example . I didn't chop mine as much , I'm too tall , but tried to copy his profile . Most consider it to be one of the best top profiles ever.............Z
For anyone who might be interested, the photo that Deuce Daddy Don posted today was taken out at El Mirage. My dad won a trophy for the race he ran in his roadster that day. After he p***ed away, I donated that trophy to Gear Grinders, which has in incorporated into the annual award Gear Grinders and I established in his name and memory. Race on! paula
Paula - Neal Jennings here...I am sorry we lost contact and have never met up when you were in the Bay Area. I was thinking I should contact you the other day. Now you are further away, but when you do get those photos out of storage...we'd love to see them. I now have my '32 on the road...and copied a few details from your dad's roadster. Thanks for bringing this post back alive. Neal
This is a wonderful thread......I am so excited to hear from Paula on here about her father's roadster.......what a connection to the tradition we love here.......it would be so generous of her to post more pics of her Dad's car.......please do favor us with whatever you are willing to share!
