Those headers are NOT torque tube headers at all.
They were made from a 35-38 Ford tubular Driveshaft.

Radiant heat isn't the huge concern, it's the temperature of the exhaust stream.

I've actually seen heat damage on the front of trailers pulled by lifted trucks with straight out the back exhaust. A trailer is 4 feet away from the exhaust tips. Makes me concerned for that T's body on your first road trip.

cool car, good luck with it

I just ordered some from Sanderson Headers yesterday, ceramic coated & with turnouts so the heat shouldn't be too much of an issue, they said I should have them next week. They're an Alliance vendor as well.

...how about cutting ovals out of the cowl sides and fitting in reversed 'blisters' to take the heat.....

run the turn outs and paint them with a good high temp paint and have fun with it.

Honeslty, I don't know. ****ster on here set me up, I couldnt be happier.

I actually had not thought of that. I am already in the process of building a new setup, however I may end up doing that anyway - thanks.
