Having trouble finding parts for my 62 Buick Invicta. Looking for a rear bumper. Any body know why these cars are so hard to find parts for? Thanks T
Ah, another '62 Buick owner! Parts can be tough to find. When I got my '62 Wildkat, the rear bumper was in bad shape. It took alot of scouring the junkyards to find one, but I lucked out. When I first got my car 10 years ago, there seemed to be a fair number of parts around for them, but since then it seems like they are starting to dry up. Alot of the gl*** from '61 and '62 GM hardtops will work--except for Cadillac. Remember, it has to be a hardtop. As far as stuff like brake parts and such, finding them in local parts stores can be very hard. I've found that for some reason the years of '61-'63 or '64, aren't in most parts books. Nobody I've asked about it has ever been able to explain it. So, according to alot of not too savy parts guys, Buick didn't make big bodied cars in those years (lol)! A big help to me is a place called CARS Inc. out of New Jersey. They deal exclusively in Buick. I've found that if they don't have what you're looking for, you'll be hard pressed to find it. I've included a link so you can check out their online catalog of parts for big bodied Buicks. Good luck with your car! E http://www.oldbuickparts.com/cat610/
Whats wrong with your bumper? Mines a little rusty above the exhaust, but not serious enough to replace. I bet it would be hard to locate a good one. They made 16,443 of yours. Only 4,617 of my wagon. The few that Ive seen other than mine are junk. Doubtful their bumpers are better.
hey bro in same trouble 62 buick lesabre windsheild try finding that! exspecially for a four door hardtop. car ready for the road just need the windsheild ****s
have had great luck with napa on all the brake parts and random engine parts but cars.inc gas helped themost great company
Speaking from experience with our 61 Buicks, let me tell ya, it is possible to find a nice one. We found our parts car in Yates center, the car had been there so long the brake shoes had rusted solid, we bought the car for one reason, the chrome on this thing was to DIE for!!! Even Ken Reeves from Wheatbelt was impressed when he saw them!!! So keep lookin and Good Luck!!! Carrie
