YOM California..Backed up....

On July 1st I went to the Local DMV to register my 63 Dodge with the Black Plates.Almost two months have gone by and still no tags and new reg card.I called DMV Sacramento after being on hold for 25 minutes.They told me the DMV is 120 days behind with YOM!

 

Nov. 6th is your big day.

 

Haha. No one will ever dispute the old saying- "California DMV ****S!"

 

So? Its not like you can't drive your car until then....

 

Actually if you know what forms to have filled out and/or make an appointment(or go to the "secret" DMV ) it goes really smooth.
As many threads that have been started and replied to about the CA YOM plates,you'd think that ALL the questions would have been answered by now.

 

Hell no..I drive it with the plates on there anyways..

 

Maxwedge hemi....thanks for this info. Ive been wondering whats up too....i had my appt on July 1 as wel,l and still waiting on my stickers. Out of curiosity, did you get a "9" (September) to put in your back window until your stickers come? I did....and now that you posted up this info, im wondering if i need to go back to the DMV and get a later month so i dont get h***led by the man.

 

They didnt give me anything..

 

It took me about 3-4 months to get ANYTHING when I reg'd my coupe with YOM plates. The new REG will come about 2-3 weeks after the tags.

 

Im rolling my black plates and no stickers and as long as i have the "9" in my back window i guess im good, but come October im sure i will be pulled over. Maxwedge hemi....keep me posted if you get anything in the mail.

I just did this nearly 12 months ago w/ my 1951 plates. I walked in on Sept. 11th w/ my plates, paid my fee's, turned in ALL my paperwork, and they set me free with my plates and a temp registration so I could drive my ride set to expire in DEC.
I DIDN'T GET MY TAGS UNTIL THIS LAST FEBRUARY!!!! SIX MONTHS!!!!!! And now my tags expire next month. LAME!
What I'm saying is, don't worry... this is OPS NORMAL for our broke-**** DMV. You'll get your tags someday... probably with your new registration fees next year!

By the way, I threw my YOM plates on right away. You just gotta have your "temp" Red Block registration ******** taped in your window. Which looks really cool.

 

I went in on Aug 4th and they gave me a "10" tag that I just stick in the window when I pull the bus out. I don't even stick it to the window as it is not a daily driver...I just use a suction clip and clip it in when I am on the road.....I figured if I see tags and registration by Christmas I am doing really good!! And if they are not here by Halloween, I am not going in for another tag either, I will just go with what I got and if I get pulled over, let the cops figure it out.....since the state is so damn slow with this why should I follow-up when it expires.......but I am looking at Christmas for my tags

 

What you guys think with their wage and hours cut they will be in a hurry for anything!! dream on!!

 

Thats kinda what the lady from the DMV told me on the phone.She sounded pretty bitter...oh well..

 

i took my yom plates to a dmv service went back the next day they gave me plates back w temp sticker got the tags and registration 2 weeks later

 

That's how fast it was a couple of years ago....

 

I guess I cant complain about AZ dmv, Other than fighting to use my plate I was done the same day.

 

gallaher...how long ago was that? About 2 years ago i registered yellow plates on my 62 Galaxie and it took about 2 weeks to get stickers. Now with black plates on July 1, i think the floodgates opened.

FYI...for you guys waiting on your black plate registrations. I just got my stickers, took almost 3 months!

 

The *****s sent my paperwork back to me..it seems the idiots at the Fremont DMV didnt fill out the paperwork properly and collect enough money from me...I waited three months for nothing!
