Jan 2009 This past weekend "Racemad" and my self took previous owner out. Had a nice day ' put almost 150 miles on Nomad. Went to lunch, took him to another guys place, and had a Great over all day. He had a Blast.
Well the chrome is shiny and looks like new or cleaner tires. I was expecting more. Like a paint job and nicer wheels. What a let down.
Those look like REAL old Vermont tags on the first pic. How did a VT car stay so rotfree? or was it off the road since 58? Edit; looks great, by the way.
Jealous... it doesn't have your name on the ***le and he can do anything he wants... and for the most part this is the HAMB... not the "Chevrolet Nomad Restorers Board"!!! It's only original once... and shouldn't be another boring restored Nomad.... I walk by restored cars "ALL THE TIME" and the work is appreciated but it's still boring...!
Let down? Seriously? Man, that's a killer car as is, and the post was about him taking the prior owner out in his old car...I know it's only opinion's, but i thought it was a cool post...
What a ****. Who said he's done? He said he took the owner for a ride. I thought it was an awesome story. Good on'ya ssffnomad, I for one am impressed. Those '55-57 Nomads and Safaris are just incredible. Really like the original colors on yours.
Yea i dig the story and would like to know how it went and was there a story behind why??? Like was he old and could drive it anymore? Sold it for ??? Good post
Looks flippin fantastic! Coming from a Ford guys thats a huge complement! Who needs it all dolled up. Gotgas and Wingnuts right...Man she's only original once and she looks so sweet the way it is. Let her age gracefully I say. 'Nomad you did good takin them for a ride. Says volumes for your character man!
What they said. Nice car and nice story. I'd rather see you driving it and enjoying it, than having it tore apart as a never ending project that so many cars end up as.
holy **** that was a dumb thing to say, why you chose to burble out this nosence is beyond me. it was cool of you guys to take the previous owner for a ride, i also cant believe how good the car looks after seeing that first picture haha
Thats a cool story man. I can't wait to get my econoline back on the road and have my grandpa come up for a spin.
Guys "Thanks" for all the positive comments. Got one apart, replaced every bit of Sheetmetal from door handles down. Gotta love the Great NorthEast
55' was started more than a few years ago, have not worked on it in a couple of years. Moved a few times, been working a couple jobs, and working on building rehab. But finally got my own shop space. I will finish the 55, hardest part is done. 57' , previous owner bought it in 1987. He took off front clip, rebuilt motor(283PP), removed 4 speed and bucket seats. Put in PG and a 55' bench seat, could not find a 57' seat at the time. Touched up the Paint. Drove it a few thousand miles, approx 1988 to 1991. Rear Main was leaking on him. Parked in a Barn with overhead door open from 1991 to Jan , 2009
I did the same for a former owner of a former car of mine. I hope someone will do the same for me. that was a "True" move, good for you.
great story awesome that you took the old owner for a ride , must have made their day an gave em another good memory to enjoy ?
You sir should be applauded. Most old timers never see their cars once they sell them.If I wore a hat it would be off to you.
