olds rear end

    hi there ,ive heard olds rear ends are strong.i have 1936 rear end and was
    wondering wether this would handle sbc 350, i didnt really think so but
    a few people have commented.just thought id run it by the hamb.

    The olds rear ends that every one buys up for their strength are the 57-64 olds/pont rear ends. they have a huge 9.3 ring gear. can rake some harsh abuse. as far as your 1936, i dont have a clue!

    It all depends what you plan to do with it. Just idleing around should be fine .but if you plan to hammer it, not so good. Heres a trick if people can see the housing from the back. Take a 49 to 51 Olds housing and remove the rear cover and weld it to a Chrysler 8 3/4 housing along with the axle bearing ends. They are close in size and shape and parts availability is greater and one can easily put 800hp to it
     
  4. the olds u-joint caps are super weak on the early rear ends. sheared a bunch of them, but then again your only running a small block chevy. :)

    Hey I just got a micky thompson magnesium center section with 4.10 and from what I have read it must be a 56 because it has a 10 spline axles and it has a 10 spline pinon shaft it came with a coupler and I need a yolk does any body know were I could find one or do I need to buy a new gear set with a different spline count or is this diff worth any thing to any body should I s**** this and start with a different diff I really like this one but I'm having a hard time finding parts???

    Well thanks for that but I really wanted some help on where to find parts.I really need a yoke for this pinon shaft. So if there is anybody that knows helpful information I'd like to hear from you
