<!-- -->[IMG]Robert N. Vasko (Bosco) died peacefully at VNS Hospice Center surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, August 25th.

Born June 8th 1945, Bob was a life-long resident of Ohio. He worked for Goodyear for 39 years, before retiring due to the beginnings of a long illness. He was a huge car enthusiast and a long-time member of the Hollywood Knights in Cleveland. He loved traveling, cooking, fast cars, searching for car parts, and building them from the ground up, and most importantly, being a husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He had the most infectious, boisterous laugh and the wittiest sense of humor that would rival the funniest stand-up comedian. He was a generous man with an even bigger heart and the gentlest hug you could imagine. Anyone who ever was blessed with the opportunity have met him, will never be the same.

The last several years have been very difficult for him as he fought a long courageous battle with his illness, not wanting to leave his beloved family behind.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Nester and Anne Vasko. He is survived by his wife, Sherry. Her devotion to him throughout his final years was a remarkable display of unconditional love. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Vasko;, brother, Bill (Karen) Vasko; daughter, Stacee (Robert) Mickolich, daughter, Tracey Metcalf; son, John (Stacie) Metcalf, Jr.; and grandchildren, Jack, Sam, Johnny, and Shelly.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. David L Jackson, without whom, we would not been able to have had Bob for as long as we did. Special thanks goes out to George, Tim and Bev, and Jack for all your love and support all these years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to VNS Hospice Center on Ridgewood Road, who were instrumental in helping Bob in his transition from this life with so much kindness and compassion.

As per his wishes, a brief service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29th to honor his memory at Adams Mason Memorial Chapel, 791 E. Market St., Akron. Family will receive friends Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.

We little knew the morning that God was going to call your name

In life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you, you are always by our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.

But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Bosco was one of a kind. He had a great sense of humor and always made me laugh, even the last couple years when he was very ill. He will be missed.

Car Folks are the best folks that live on this earth as far as I am concerned. Our culture would not be what it is today without the influence of great people like this man. Though I never knew him, he sounds like someone I would have truly loved to know. My thoughts and prayers are with those who knew and loved him.
