Besides me, there are no 'car people' in my family. No one seems to get it. Not a problem. Never tried to force it on anyone. Over the years I have had too many cars to count. Now its the 32 roadster, 32 coupe and the 27 Bonneville car. Every Sunday morning I take my 84 year old mom to breakfast. She lives about 45 minutes from me. On Saturday I asked her if she would like to ride to breakfast in my roadster, a car I built 12 years ago. She says that would be fine. I knock on her door and she answers the door with a shower cap on her head. TOO FUNNY. What a great time. Smiles ear to ear. After breakfast she mentioned she was going to get a prettier shower cap for next time. Should have done this years ago.

Too cool... maybe you should have... but don't dwell on it... the past is the past... enjoy the present while you have it... she said she'll buy a new shower cap... that means she's ready for more... enjoy it... very cool that you take her to breakfast every Sunday morning... Spend as much time as you can with parents as they get older... you'll learn more from them now than you ever did as a child...

A few years back, there was a swearing ceremony for my brother who was becoming Chief of Police in a neighboring town. My Mom wanted me to take her, but I wanted to go cruising with my friends. I ended up taking her in my '32 3 window. It was the first time she rode in any of my cars. Can't say she liked it but it did bring back memories of her riding with my Father, who had p***ed on years ago.

Gasheat, that's pretty cool. My mother of 72 years young wants a ride in my Model A. The same kind of car her late brother Johnny had, that they rode thru the fields when they were young. I gotta get it done one of these days just to see her face. Her first marriage was to a guy that had a famous 37 Ford Modified the J2. She still watches stock car racing today religously.

My neighbor is 89 and she said the other day she wants to go for a ride in the roadster. I think the next day im off I better take her for a ride as she lets me store a car in her garage. I got to git some pictures of that. I gave her a ride a couple of weeks ago in my 57 to a local event. We brought her walker and she checked out the cars, and watched the Elvis impersonater. She liked the cars but didnt think much of Elvis.

  14. Fantastic! I wish my mom was still alive to take out on a ride. Man, spend as much time as you can with them while they are around. It's amazing what your mom knows.

Very cool. She does look a bit apprehensive . . . is it the hair, the car, or the driver:eek:?

I just showed this post to my wife (61). She said "Why didn't I think of that ?" I don't think she was serious. She wears a baseball cap while riding in my roadster, but it made us both laugh and think of our Moms who are no longer here. THANK YOU !!!!

    Those pix are priceless.

  30. What a nice thing to do for your mom, creating memories for both of you . After all she probably taught you how to share and play nice with others , and who else would appreciate it more. Rob
