Well here is what I picked up last night, one more load of stuff to get yet. Lots to do but you got to start somewhere. He bought all the new patch repair panels for it and has the frame set up with the 4 link front and rear. Once I get this into a roller I will be putting the body tub back together, might still chop an inch or two down..not sure yet, he said he cut it 4" down already. I will be looking for advice and technique tips from anyone who has taken on similar rebuilds, I have been building bikes my whole life and I have always loved the old hot rods this will be my first 4 wheel project, better late than never.

nice start. get rid of that 4bar and rack & pinion set up.

  5. nice start on a project. are you planning on redoing the ch***is? that rack and pinion need to go in my opinion...the 4-bar would be ok if you are going full fendered

Thanks Guys..at this point it is going to be a low budget project so it will have to stay as is for a while once I get the mock up more complete I can decide if it looks good or bad and then if I have the money to change up will be a big factor. I appreciate the advice, and I will keep this thread updated as I make progress and when/if I change it up.

If this project car is 1/2 as good as your sickles, then this will be a great thread to watch.
Do you have room in your garage for it? I've got extra garage space for your bikes!

looks better than what i was starting with good luck for sure. cant wait to see it done.

  21. i noticed that too...another set of frame rails used as boxing plates , should be strong. i'd fill the extra holes. motor mounts appear to be for a sbc

Yes, the guy cut up another to box this in, not sure why but I don't plan to cut it out now, just weld up the holes like you said.

The body is a puzzle right now of loose panels and parts to weld back together. Is there a recommended way to repair and weld this tub back together to keep eveything straight and to be sure the specs are correct so everything bolts up and in correctly?

All I can say is buy a bunch of 1x1, make sure the doors fit and measure diagonally, then double check everything before welding it up.:)

Looks like you scored a nice '32 V8 headlight bar with the pile. Let me know if you don't need it.
