But you get a burger fries and a drink + a parking spot and a chance to make history.........is it really $20 just to spectate???? If so I wont be there. Also Im sure the parking spaces are limited so maybe at $50 it will keep only the more serious/hardcore guys attending??

The money guys will happily pay 50 bucks to park their cars at this thing just to say "yeah, I was there" later on. I'll bet they'll be turning cars away that day.

I think the opening should be open to anyone show wants to come down and enjoy the place, food, cars, etc. I do agree that the HAMBers should come in roves and over run the place but I don't think it should be limited to just HAMBers or people with more money than brains. I am assuming that your comment meant only HAMBers. Correct me if I am wrong. I think it is a tragedy that the opening of the Broiler will only be attended by people willing to pay $20-$50. We are making a leap of faith that the Broiler will be finished and open for business by then as well. I just hope that the ones willing to pay can appreciate the Broiler's reopening for what it really is.

I'd bet there will be people camped out there the day before trying to get the "choice" power-parking spots and using their chairs to hold their places. The car magazines will no doubt be there so the ego/chainer types will be there too hoping to get their car in a magazine. Just a hunch.

  6. Guys...
regardless what your opinion is of the whole deal, if you go back and read CK's broiler thread you will see that this IS NOT THE GRAND OPENING.

It is an event that his being held at the Broiler.

I'm quite sure that the official Grand opening will be a much different affair!

I agree with the last post by Cut55. Maybe we should get paid for people or the location to have our cars on display. Having the cars there is promoting the location for a start. Maybe later to charge a small fee to be at the cuise. The first day should be free or making a donation would be more appropriate.

    Thanks

That is a relief. I take back almost everything I said except for "I am not going."

I wish them luck on the event.

I got a call this morning from Del Torro re: this post.
This is being rectified as we speak. Jim wanted a Charity event/Fund Raiser to help folks that don't have the bucks, The management decided that Harbor Interfaith would the recipient of monies donated by attendees towards their work with homeless.
Again this isn't the Grand Opening Cruise just a fund raiser.
I have ltd internet access so I'll reply again when I can.
Our main focus is getting the Broiler right for you guys, Adriene and I are working on making this a HAMB friendly place again as it's always been.
Stay tuned HAMB (Free) Car Shows coming soon!

Thank all of you for your continued support.

    Kevin

  10. Kevin, Thanks for weighing in. I have nothing against a fundrasing type event being held there by any means. I just think if this is before the Grand Opening, it's a mistake. JMHO

  12. Thanks, Kevin. This is not the Broiler Grand Opening. This is not the HAMB friendly cruise. This benefits a charity that I've heard of. So, people can go if they like. Or not. I always follow threads pertaining to the Broiler, because I have a long history there. I hope people read the entire thread before commenting. The HAMB has been a huge part of the effort to bring Harvey's Broiler back to life. We should just stay positive on this. Sorry for rambling there... I just want to underscore Cyclone Kevin's last post above.

  13. Also remember that this is a VERY strategic move on the owner's part as well.

when you do something like this it attracts local media and starts you off on the right foot in the community. Think about everyone who DOESN'T know about the broiler and how a 5 minute slot on the 5, 5:30, 6 and 6:30 news plus an article in at least 2 or 3 local papers can impact your draw...

I opened a lot of restaurants in my 20's and EVERY ONE had a Pre-Opening charity / Goodwill event. it gives the entire staff a live dress rehearsal as well.

    Its just good business

color it any way you want........

The name of the event is promotion of his book, plain and simple.

This shoulda waited untill after it had a grand opening.

A better plan woulda been having all that participated, helped, and promoted the resurgence of Harveys As Bobs Big Boy at a special pre -opening. Seems to me that woulda made for more press.

First off I want to say Kevin is a "Stand up Guy" his efforts saved a Bitchinn part of our History & Culture, and I can't wait to park my 29 at the Broiler and enjoy the scene, with that said I feel that Del Shit Head is F%*King up the Broiler with his own SELF-PROMOTION

    "Count me out"

I will Support Kevin & the Broiler, but not this way !!!!!!!

    Bob's last night.

I decided to wash the bird crap off the Caprice and road trip it in Friday traffic to Burbank to hang out, eat questionable burgers, and see famous people. Oh yeah, I snapped a couple pics with my cell phone.
Max was there. He was mad too. Someone told him the burgers here are fantastic. At least he didn't blow away Big Boy with that sawed off shot gun. This one was made from a 73 Ford Falcon XB. Pretty good too, but not the best I've seen. Sounded nice too. It's still undetermined if the blower was actually functiona

The owner of this C4 Vette was going for a record of Violations. The black duct tape fix on the passenger seat was all I saw wrong with this escapee from Grand Turismo 3.

I found my new work car. Now, if I can just get my boss to cover the $50k asking price

There were three 60's Grand Prix's there last night. A 63 coupe with a 428, 4 spd, 8 lugs; a 64 GP coupe with a 421, 3-2's and bright yellow paint, and this 64 Convertible.

Things were quieting down around 10 pm when Leno showed up in his bright green Duesenberg. A crowd enveloped and he didn't get ten feet from his car. He was taking pics and answering stupid questions for an hour before splitting. This is all the closer I got. Sorry, the pic I took of the car was really blurry.

This is the dash of Leno's Duesey. All those gauges work. The gas gauge has gas in it!!. The clock worked and was accurate

Christopher Titus also showed up in his Foose built 56 Chevy. He had his kids with him and was trying to be as low key as possible.

  19. TYPICAL H.A.M.B. anymore...viral hated and uninformed speculation...
Its NO WONDER so many of the ole skool HAMBers want nothing to do with this place anymore...
Since almost everyone is up in arms about this thread,
    an OBVIOUS "Charity Event",
lemme dispell any conjectour or confusion about this event or DELTORO!

    1. It is indeed a "CHARITY EVENT"...if "you" are your "only" charity maybe this particular event isnt for you..

    2. "DELTORO", aka "Danny White", is a highly upstanding member of the Nashville music community, running a very successful recording studio as well as an accomplished writer and hotrodder...yes he's promoting his new book(when did that become a crime) its an excellent story , for those of you who may actually read, this will require you put down the "Auto Trader" and pick up an actual book...and BTW he's donated his books and posters for this event to those who register and give the donation (no money grubbing there haters)

For the "$50.00" Donation you get:
    on sight parking,
    commerative dash palque,
    comped your meal,
as well you recieve a signed copy of this book "FOR FREE" as well as the matching poster...
and the satisfaction of knowing you helped others in need...if that isnt worth "$50.00" to you or you dont have it, no problem, park down the street and come look and enjoy the rides for free or just stay home...but dont sit on here pitching a bitch about how you've been slighted by BBB or Danny being a sham!
I'm here to tell ya, that is just NOT the case!

Usually, I try to bite my tounge and avoid drama, but, this is some of the most stupid shit ive seen here posted lately! Its 2009 and your posting pics taken with a crappy cell phone on here?! What was the point to your post? Do we care to see a celeberty stalker type photo of Jay Leno on here? It seems your impressed by stupid shit, and think this is funny.....when its....NOT!
