I got this 67 mustang I'm restoring for a school project in Auto Shop. We are getting to the point where we put in the new headliner and now we are getting ready to do the seats. We got all new leather for the seats. The only problem is that some of the original stuffing from the seats are missing and I also heard a guy say its illegal to reuse the original foam. Is this true. Can an experienced upholstry guy tell me whether or not i need new foam or if there is any way i can replace some of the missing stuffing. What you be the easiest way to do this
I've never heard of this, just find some repop seat foam, most all mustang parts place should have them. If it's crumbling up, change it out. Also if your taking the time to make leather seat covers, get some new foam. http://www.autoupholsterykits.com/seatfoam.html http://www.calmuscleparts.com/store/STANDARD-AND-DELUXE-SEAT-FOAM-1965-73-C606.aspx never mind any "non-trad" replies, atleast your teaching kids to keep on, keeping on with old cars.
how does that work. Do i just take the old foam out and put the new one on and it pops up or something? This might be the route ill go. Can you tell me more about it. I'll have pictures tomorrow
Don't use old foam with new upholstery. If you are going to go to the trouble to do it then do it right, you will be much happier with the results.
this is not even foam its like a bunch of white stuffing. I dont even know what it is. it looks like a bunch of spitwads piled together. Ill have pictures tomorrow. Mabye foam is a good idea
