Can anyone tell me how to index the point cam when I convert a flathead back to dual points from Unilite? There is a small hole in the top of the cam at one of the flats, how should this relate to the flat at the top of the shaft for the rotor?
I think that the points plate is located by the bolts on the side which hold down the cap. As for where the points ride on the cam in relation to the points opening and closing I don't think it cares. You will time it by moving the dist around the shaft until it fires in the right place. The Cap and rotor are synced by design. I think this is correct? Why not just use a Petronics? I have found them to be super reliable unlike the unilite. Just my .02
can a petronix go under the cap of an old YCM Mallory Dual point to maintain the vintage look while gaining the benefits of the new unit?
