I have shaved door handles and used to have my ****on inside the door skin so you could just lean against the door and it would actuate the solenoid. Really cool, but, the door won't pop open when you are leaning against it. Stupid amateurs! (me) So, needless to say I need to find another place. I want something fairly hidden, and not too exposed to the elements since this car is a daily driver. Any ideas?

While we're on the subject, any ideas for an emergency door pull in case of dead battery?

I don't have any ideas on the placement of a switch for the solenoids, but I used a lockset for a garage door for a dead battery emergency release. It's a keyed lockset I put in the front wheelwell and when you put the key in and turn it the lockset comes out and has a cable attached to rear of the lockset that runs to your door latch and pops open the door.

    Great idea. Thanks.

So all the folks with customs out there that have shaved handles, what do you do? Solenoids? Leave the windows down? There's got to be some cool ideas out there. Anyone willing to share?

I bought a remote operated solenoid kit on ebay that operates the door and trunk with a key fob. (Very easy to install) Also have an emergency pull cable hiden under the hood.

I saw a guy hide is pull cable using a bolt in the fender well. The bolt looked like it was suppose to be there. He said he had a spring on the backside to keep tension on it. For the "****on" the use of the magnetic switches is trick, just carry a magnetic on your key ring.

I've got solenoids in my door that work by remote. I installed bear claw latches with a solenoid built into it from Rocky hinge. Works well. They also sell the solenoids seperate, and the keyless entry system.

  7. A few that I've done, a few that I've seen...

Toggle Switch mounted in frenched antenna hole. Looks like antenna, but pops doors.

Switch mounted behind ribbed filler trim piece just rear of door, on quarter panel under side molding. Push the trim, door opens.

Hinged door mirror, cable connected to mirror base pulls door latch. Tilts at front so as not to kick door open while driving (durrrrrrr)

Push ****on switch on pillar mounted spot light or dummy spot.
