I am currently looking for a good gl*** guy in the midwest that knows old cars and more than just gl***. I have a chopped 49 Plymoutht that is now a hardtop. Need to do the front and rear gl*** and figure out how to make the door gl*** work. I am located in Ottumwa Iowa and willing to travel some if i find the right guy.

    Know of anyone????

    Thanks
    matt

In Illinois, the place that comes up the most often in conversation is Edgar County Auto Gl***, 323 N. Main Street, Paris, IL 61944. His phone number is 217-463-1477. Paris is about 165 miles south of Chicago and near the Indiana border. He'll have my 48 Chevy truck pretty soon.:)

I found most of the good gl*** guys are dead or retired in my area /dallas/ Ended up ordering out of cal. check out the ones advertized in the hot rod books ,rod & custom etc. You will be amazed at what they can do.

The side gl*** will need a channel, or "frame" (usually chromed) that is a press fit on the gl*** (with a cloth gl*** tape as a cushion). I can fabricate the channel if you have a shape pattern (usually a curve shape where the front & rear gl*** meet). Some guys just have the rear gl*** slide into a track. To make the rear window go up and down can require some work, but very do able.

Might be hard to find a gl*** guy that can make the channel, but not impossible. Probably a good bet to have the channel (fit to a wood pattern of the gl***) and have it working in the car, before the plating and gl*** installation process.

Send me a pm if you can't find what you need. Stu
