Wow!! I like it!!! Cool find, I havn't seen a Hubley in quite a while. I have a Hubley pick-up, I'll have to look at the box to find out the year. My dad gave this model back in the early 80's, un***embled in the box. I put it together, painted it light blue. I'll try to get a few pics. Thanks for posting!!!!

The Hubley Hot Rod's probably the rarest of their car kits; the Model A's have been re-released a billion times so they're pretty common. A nice vintage build of the Hot Rod seems like a pretty good deal at $65.

I know I wouldn't build one for $65 given all the flash that'd need cleaning up and the fit problems that'd need fixing!

I'd say that you got a good deal. I had one of those as a kid, and never painted it; just kept taking it apart and putting it back together. I check the auctions every now and then, and they bring good prices...too high for me, but that's one of the better ones that I've seen.;)

I've got a Model A Roadster and a Model A Roadster p/u as well as a Model A Phaeton all of which I built around 1960-1962 when I was 10-12 yrs. old. Needless to say, I didn't do a very "professional" job on them as a kid so a couple yrs. ago I pulled them all out and started the new builds. I've finished the 2 roadsters and still have the Phaeton to do. By the way Murph, you know they were made not far from you up in Lancaster, Pa.

  7. Hey,

Yea, one day I went up to find the original building where the models were built...found it, its still standing, but no models...LOL Also, the 55 Chrysler that I have posted for sale, has an service station sticker on the driver's door jamb...It says "Hubley" Garage, Lancaster, Pa. THAT is Kool. I'd like to have a photo of that garage with a Model A in front...

    Murph:cool:

I dig the hot rod kit too.
I have one complete with the strange spinner hubcaps in the box.
    Neat!

I think you can still buy the regular Hubley kits from Snyders, in their Model A and T catalogs
