Oh I see he got the headlights, too.

You gotta roll it out in the sunlight and let us see the whole car, not just pieces of it or else you can't take the stripes in context iwth the rest of the vehicle.

I didn't immediately get it because the angles of your pics are awkward(i'm not a photog, its not a criticism just an observation :) ) but after staring at it a bit I see the red for the taillights and the white for the tire sidewalls and roof, now I get it , but at first glance I didn't get the side stripes, where the red was coming from

also I just realized good lord that car is nice and straight!

You're def. on the right track with the pinstriping, the back I really like, taillight accents and all, and something needs to break up the sides of the car.

EDIT: OK try this on for size, the white on the side just really grabs my eyes, what if it were just a little *thinner* but kept the red(possibly thinner too)?

I think that's my problem, just too much glaring white, but then on two of those pics you can barely even tell there's red on teh side at all, only in that rear 3/4 view does it stand out

If you tell someone to do what they think looks good and leave, then you better be agreeable to what they come up with. I've done a lot of custom carpentry and know to be awful wary when someone says"do what you think looks good" If you dont like it you have no one to blame but yourself. Respect his work, thats what you paid for.

    Same here.
I'd leave the stripes on the taillights and trunk, they look 'period' to me. But the red and white on the beltline just don't do anything for me. Maybe he could go over the red with another color (light blue maybe?).

Wait. Get her out and drive a bit. Go into a few stores or shops and come out and look at your car with fresh eyes, you might be suprised at how your opinion changes:D

Personally, I think the white down the side cuts a nice wick through a field of blue that might be overpowering on its own...

Love the stripes... all of them. The beltline stripes really help to draw the eye to the aggressive stance. The only thing I would change is the red color to a beige (like a tan leather interior color) or even a super dark blue. While patriotism is bad ***, the whole Americana theme thing can draw attention away from more important aspects of your rod.

I like the lines on it. For some reason I lean toward having another line in the front . As far as the colors. The Red, White, Blue colors compared to Burgundy, Charcoal, Blue colors. Black, Charcoal, Blue colors. all would have a different tone of the car. But the Red, White, Blue is there now.
Looks Great and I think you will get nothing but compliments from everyone at any show you attend. Great Job.

I don't love em but I don't hate em. I agree I'd have the wheels done if you keep em.

I'd say they are preety traditional. I did the same thing with an A, Gave it to a striper and told him to make it look 50'sish. The guy (Bobbo) been stripping since then so I figured he'd know what it should look like. Almost a copy of what you have including the belt line, the 39 teardrops are just like yours. Only differance (and admittelly the only thing I'm not feeling with yours) is the color choices. I think a liitle less contrast might of been better but that's just my opinion.

Looks like he does good striping.... but I'm not feeling the stripes down the beltline either. I don't think I've ever seen that on that style of car...

I like it.It fits the bill for what you asked for. You obviously went back to the guy cause you like the work. Sleep on it for a while, I think it will grow on you. Besides, when you step back it flows.I think becuase it is your car you study each part more. The overall is nice. Drive it and be proud.

I dont want to be mis understood here I absolutely respect his work. He did an awsome job I couldnt begin to tell him what would look good, He's been stripping along time for a living I just cant decide if I like the beltline stripe or not. If I decided to take it all off Id have no problem paying him to do it again knowing now what I might like better . I fully understand thats what I told him and I let him pick the colors as well Im ok with that Im just wondering if less is more kind of thing.

Not crazy about the stripes on the sides (they aren't bad looking though), but I like the decklid and the ones around the tail lights.

  22. OK I've read all the opinions so I guess I'll throw my twopence into the fray.

The color choice I like and the work looks really clean. As to the use of red and white together:it works but the white line should be thinner than the red(or whatever secondary color is used)because white against a dark color tends to magnify the line width. The red(or contrasting color)tends to diminish the width of the white line.
I usually separate the lines farther apart on Model A's;preferring to work closer to the edge of the reveal but that is just my take.
The back looks very nicely done and not overdone. The wheels would likely look good done to match the body stripe.
If I had another choice of color,it would probably have been the bright red and process blue. Those two colors have about the same relative value(intensity)so neither one would overpower the other. It would also have a secondary effect in that the two would create a purple effect when viewed at a distance. But then it wouldn't have looked 50 ish.

edit:If you want to remove fresh pinstriping(and I don't advocate it at all)you can use a commercial brush cleaner that contains xylene but be advised that it could damage the base paint so it is always adviseable to try it on an area that doesn't readily show.

My opinion is the stripe work is outstanding, however I would not want the beltline done. Everything else is spot on in my eye!

I really like the whole job...deck lid strips sort of remind me of Tommy the Greek, though his work was different...If it were mine, I'd drive it proudly.
