  1. its like 1:30AM and i was goin through the channels and found the Munsters on, it was an episode from may 27 1965 ***led "HOt Rod Herman" Herman bets for pink slips his sons friends dad that the Munster Coach can beat his car, which ends up being a rail dragster and loses the coach.grandpa builds a car"Dragula" to race the following weekend to win the Munster Coach back and does. All this was shot on location which seemed to be Pomona or LACR.They show some awesome drag race shots and when they are in the pits you see all kinds of bad *** rides...I was in heaven for the whole half hour!! way cool! PUNK RODS!!!!IT's Lions drag strip,in wilmington,CA (near long beach) The strip is long gone, but for that episode,it will live forever! Another one is the ADAM 12 episode where jim reed fixes up his old high school ride ('56 Ford?) to race another officer. **** clark plays the strip owner, who has his timing clocks stolen. It was filmed at Lions also.

There's a full length movie called "Munsters go home" where Herman drives the Coffin Rod in a Sports Car race.

I caught that episode recently again (twice this year). Some cool footage of old g***ers and some rails going down the 1/4. It's my favorite alltime Munster episode.

There's also an episode of Adam 12 where, the 2 "punks'" getaway car, is the "Two Lane Blacktop" '55...

A while back someone wrote a post asking what turned you on to Hot Rods. I would have been barely three when that originally aired. I remember getting a big kick out of it.

If you've seen the MFS DVD then you know George Barris says HE's the one that drove Dragula in that episode. I've seen a promo shot of Dragula sitting in the pits with someone else sitting in the car with Grandpa's make up and outfit on. That was probably George Barris too.

One of my favorite lines from that episode is when Herman tells the guy that he is dragging against..."I'll blast your heap...Clyde". Way too funny. I dig the way they always use the fast-motion in that show. It makes it 100 times better.

    See you down the road.

    Adios,

  23. Just bought that DVD!!! Cool Thanks!!!!!!!!!

  24. Officer Reece's iron was a 52-54 era Ford 2 door post Custom or Mainliner and had the name "Canyon" painted on the side. No idea what that was supposed to mean.

I built the Munster Coach model when I was about 8 years old.

  25. I have a pic of me in the Munster Koach when I was like 5 or 6 from a car show...I need to ask mom & pop if they got that pic stuffed away somewhere.
