  1. Three words- FIRE FUCKIN STONES
Frenz pretty much lays it out for you as far as tire size and WW size.
Oh yeah, radials are NOT an option.

  2. Gotta bump this post back up since I found it so useful. With so many options out there and some really whack tires, I wasn't sure what to go with at first...I ended up with the Goodyears like on Weez' shoe. Once I mount my sombreros, put the hood back on, add the side-trim, chop and paint it, it might actually look decent,,,,

Still....I think the tires helped, so thanks guys.

    "Old" tires......

I've been doing TONS of research on tires for the last 2 months and F@#$K it's driving me crazy.

For sure im running 670 15 firestones in the front.....Here's my problem, my car is bagged and when im all the way down my rear tires put a little bit of pressure on the top of my wheel well, which are already raised to the top of the rear 1/4, and i dont want the tire to touch it , right now my mock up tires are 27 tall in the back. I was thinking of running a smaller tire in the back 560 15 0r 590 15 but im thinking it might be a little sketchy.......What do you think i should do and what have you done, because i know some of you have bagged cars.

    I do not want RADIALS.

    Thanx

Ian,I see the issue you have. The only problem is a smaller tire will also have smaller whitewall compared to the front tire, the 6.70 Firestone you plan to use,it definitely will look...let's say strange or off or whatever, whenever the rear tire is visible, imho.

To me,the rear tire is just as important on a Custom as the front tire. Most people with bagged cars go as low as possible and in my eyes that's a mistake. It's all about stance.I simply wouldn't go that low with your car.Raise it up a bit, still LOW of course.Just make room for the tire and you'll be fine.

George Garza's beautiful '51 Mercury built by Lucky 7 Customs has perfect STANCE in my eyes.I unfortunately forgot who took this great pic, otherwise I would give credit where credit is due.Check the Merc out and think about it...

here's mine ... 710 Firestones on my '51, car has been lowered 2". I have no clearance issues and plan on lowering the car a couple more inch's ... love em.

QUICK NOTE: if you get the 710's don't get freaked out the first time you see them, because they're "REALLY" tall ... to the point where you think you might have the wrong size. They shrink in height big time once they're mounted.
