This is my first build, so forgive me if my question seems elementary. Will I have to re-skin my doors to remove the windows on my 40 ford pickup? (Or wait until my chop?) It seems I've gone at them at almost every angle and can't get them to come out. The tracks are off the regulator, felt gasket is removed and the window moves freely, but there's just no way to get it through the window opening (that I can see).
You have to disconnect the regulator from the door and remove it first. Then the windows will have the room to come out at a slight angle through the opening.
if your gonna chop it couldnt wouldnt it be easiest to just roll em down chop the top and as long as its done right and everything lines up the windows will work right. plus this saves you the headache of either finding new gl*** or tryin to cut yours (which will probably be risky if not impossible.) roll em down chop the top and roll em back up. just my .2
Tried dropping the regulator. Still no dice. The frame around the gl*** doesn't let the window tilt out of the window opening. Periah, I'd like to remove the window for a few reasons. The first is to avoid scratching/cracking/breaking it while moving the door around in the process of the build. Second, the stock profile for the window won't match that of the new door once I chop. Third, I like to take things apart.
i 'ear ya, takin things apart is fun. i was just thinkin maybe this could be an easier solution. good luck gettin them winders out.
