There was a b&w pic floating around here somewhere. I may have it, I will have to look.

  3. This is the only pic I have of it.

The B&W pic is the only pic I've seen of the truck, until this thread. I love that truck! Dig the exhaust! Something tells me that truck got scrapped, turned into a regular work truck by someone else, or is rotting away. The vast majority of customs and hot rods weren't preserved, so I doubt a cabover Ford would survive. They made that body style up truck up until the very early 90's, but that's one of the early trucks (dual headlamps).

Maybe Larry Watson knows what happened to the truck.

In the some of the other pics on rikster's site, it shows the truck with gold painted wheels.

I remember seeing a truck like this one Barris was using, had a Barris logo on it, somewhere I got a pic. Maybe the same truck, Watson might of bought it from Barris or vise versa. Always wanted to build one but probably never will, time and money spent would take to much away from the car projects. Maybe if I win the lotto...

Yes, the truck still exists and has since been recustomized. It belongs to Jim Street, the "original owner and customizer of the Golden Sahara" along with the truck. Neither the Golden Sahara or the truck ever belonged to George Barris or Larry Watson. Jim Street had Larry Watson
paint the truck only. He still has the truck for transporting the Golden Sahara.

Jim Street, is indeed a solitary person. I've known him for about 40 years.
The last time I saw the Sahara or the truck, they were in good condition, at his house. That was several years ago. I'm sure he is still in posession of both vehicles. He also still owns the Gabrowski T. He talked of restoring them, but who knows. Like me, he's getting up in years.
