There was a guy sitting on the front tire of the black roadster with the Maine plate. I asked him about it and he said he was from NY. I ***ume it was the owner.

That is the guy I talked to with our very own SPIKE in the background.

  9. Thanks for the pictures Al. This is the best car event in the east bar none! It was a pleasure to Panel Jam with Mr.J, Joe Sulpy, Bandit, Anthony White & of course Carol "Not Aunt Bea" for the Charity Art Auction, I don't know the final tally, but I think it was GREAT! Thanks to all the folks that bought our art work and had cars striped for the cause, YOU ARE THE MOST GERNEROUS PEOPLE IN THE WORLD! I'm sure "Not Aunt Bea" will have some You-Tube videos up soon.

I made it! I was late as hell but still got there withsome daylight left. Had a great time as always. The only **** part was no burnout pit and no flamethrowers this year. :(

NITROFC ... nice pics ... thanks for sharing!

Anyone know who owns this track-nosed roadster?:

    CIMG2188.JPG

... I'm almost positive it was originally built by Bud Jones of San Jose, CA.

That's owned now by A.B. Shuman, former Hot Rod editor and an Encyclopedia of Obscure Automotive Knowledge. He told me it was a CA car.

He's the author of that "Square Roll Bars" book.

Frank (gas pumper) ... thanks for the info!

Bud was a good friend of my father (they both had '57 Chrysler 300C coupes and attended a couple of Bonneville Speed Weeks together).

The roadster's "pink" color is actually 1957 Chrysler "Gauguin Red" ... he painted it that color to match his Gauguin Red 300C ... (somehwere) I've got pics of Bud's 300C flat-towing the roadster.

    I posted a pic of Bud & his flathead-powered B'ville Lakester HERE.

Big Al, Sorry for the derail here.

    HEMI32,

A.B. lived in CA for a while and I know he had the car shipped here to NJ.

I just came back from the Salt, and A.B., me and another guy drove out and back with a AA/GL from NJ and helped run the car, set a AA/FL record at 290 something. (We do have the un-official ***le as the fastest ECTA car to run at speed week, ever, acording to the SCTA guys)

A.B. was also the driver and partner with FLATDOG on the flathead altered that DJ used to run.

Hey 29 Rats all of those guys in the photos rent Island Dragway two or three times a year to drag race the old Vettes. I see you have a 61 and you are not that far away. I am sure they would love to have you join in their fun. All of them run on the street and not all of them pull the wheels as effortlessly as the black car does-mostly modified street cars-Jim

  30. It was one hell of a party. They had to close the gate at about 8:00 since they were out of space for cars. Next year they're gonna have to harvest the corn sooner to make room for more cars.
I'm just posting now since I've been hangin at Lead East w/teddyp, desoto, and 57g***er (who lunched the generator in his '58 Ford ragtop). This is the biggest turn-out for L.E. that I've seen. They have folks registered for Fri-Sun and then have cars that just come for Sat or Sun in the furter-out lots. There are so many cars registered for Fri-Sun that there will be limited room for one-dayers. I think there will be a lot of unhappy people who come for the day and find out they can only park in the spectator lots.
I fell in love yesterday - '47 Caddy fast-back - black, wire wheels, and slammed - oh yeah. I hope you get some nice shots of that ride.
