if your engine is mounted in the front, and the ****** on the factory mount, you will break more parts.
is it mounted in the front or on the sides?

You ever seen any drang racing? dirt track cars. Heck pro stock trucks launched at 9500. As for the street it would be rare but not impossible.

Well I have drag raced in my time. but I do have about 5000 in the motor not alot but enough. The motor is side mounted. I build my motors to run not show. Oh and like I said I build my motors not a shop I've leard from some of the best in these parts. You don't have to put alot of money in a motor to get it to run just time and alot of polishing to get it to turn the RPMS. I like the sound of a well tuned motor. Tack is for a 8 cyl. not 6 cyl. green paint it's just me. I'm not going to leave the small block in it I'm going to put it in my lil. truck that I got from john. I've got a 468 BBC thats going in it this time preditor carb don zig mag and a 400 turbo with a 3000 stall now this should be fun. Oh I'm also going to put a 8.8 rear end out of my freinds drag car with 456 gears and spooled...Now this will be fun...

What is that hard line I see in the third picture? Is that a fuel line right next to where the bell housing broke? Yikes!

Well I built it with my BBC in mind but put the smallblock in it for the time being now it's time for the BBC..... 8000rmp is not bad it's 10000 that gets you......makes alot of noise like monkeys with ballpeen hammers in the oil pan. But my motor is ok 8000 is the limit.....

The motor is still going to be the same distance in front of the fire wall if the trans is in the same location

I'm wondering if there is anything that was done to the case of that trans to allow it to break that bad. If the motor is side mounted with good (not broken) mounts and the trans mount and drive shaft are good the trans case shouldn't be stressed that badly to break it.

Maybe someone "baked" the case of the trans to get the dirt of? you can do that with a steel block but doing that with aluminum a bit to long will change the temper of the Al and make it brittle..

Even a chevy transmission shouldn't just break like that.

Hey boneyardratz, whats up neighbor. Gotta stay off 41. As far as I know, the only good thing on 41 is boomers and that ain't great. According to my dad and uncles, there used to be some good drag racing on 41 through Marietta in the late 60's and early 70's.

  20. 8g isn't really that bad. I ran a 351C that red lined at 7500, on one memorable miss shift it pegged 8100. I left the tell tail pegged there to prove it could do it until I had to re set it for racing.
Good luck with the BBC, sounds like fun.
    Doc.

PS, I still have that motor.......................... broken.
