A 65 Coupe Deville front seat is a perfect fit for a 51 coupe and the shape and lower trim looks fairly proper. Finding one of those in usable shape is probably as hard as finding a stock seat that can be redone though.

The column, wheel, seats and upholstery??? I commend you for wanting to change something (like all of it) The bench is a must please use one.

  3. Chris I have not, the car and seats are not in the same location. Might not be a bad idea for me to try the seats right before the car sees final paint. Good idea that just came to me.

I think the rear will fit it's not much different from what was already in there.

i am thinking of going w/ the lincoln seats. they are pretty close to a bench. almost bench and alomst old school(not really). i would have to do some work to make the rear top half fit...but thats a small price to pay to be done with this interiour business!!

your speaking about the final point??? how you coming? you getting close? your patient!!

didnt i see somewhere that you only drove the car for like a week before starting the make over? strong! i cant stop driving mine long enough to change the oil let alone a total redo!

    keep us up dated sir!

these are pics of the seats i just put in mine.
they are not mounted yet, not the best pictures, and not the most "traditional", however, i thought id show you what worked for me....

    1993 Lincoln Town Car.
The cost was $200.00 bucks including...
    1. Front and rear full white leather in perfect condition,
    2. Front and rear seat belts that im not gonna be able to use(but i can sell)
    3. Everything to keep them power!!
    4. No cost to recover, just 4 patchs to cover Lincoln emblem.
    5. a almost perfect fit
    6. not quite a bench, but a long way from buckets.

i struggled with the seat issue for a few months and these have worked out perfect in my case!!

hope this info helps one way or the other. Good luck on your build!!

  9. NOTHING can replace the original Merc seats! Not those gay-ass lincoln seats,or even the power Caddy seats either! They sit up too high and the armrests look out of place. Not picking on anybody, but you asked my opinion...

  10. Stock bench seat!!!!

  11. Correct answer!

  12. Hot rods & custom cars are all about doing what is different to stock.
Original bench seat sounds stock and boring...
It had to go... or all I was doing was a resto job... JM2CW

  13. Buckets ???? Are you F*c*ing kidding ? Are you building a street rod or kustom? Well I dont mean to be so harsh but buckets ??? Buckets are a sin in my world of KUSTOMS!!!!!!

  14. lol. We are all sinners. :)

Well it is hard to tell that they are not a split bench seat anyway..
And I like them, that's all that matters.
