Meehan's Auto Parts....an old parts store with everything jam packed in the aisles, a far cry from today's computer kid chain stores.

  8. Various location shots around Richmond, VA. I was looking for a place to shoot some car photos. Sorry for so many with my '61 in it, but I didn't anticiate a sign thread. Some signs here are new, some have been here in town many years.

I LOVE mid century neon signs. Here are some that Ive found mostly locally and on some random trips. The worst is seeing them being torn down and/or not taken care of...

I posted a couple pages back that I might be related to the family that owned ( or still owns) this shop in Mass. After some research thanks to my Aunt and one of my Uncles I found some more info. Here is what my Aunt told me.

"It is in Newburyport and used to be owned by your great grandfathers brother. It is no longer owned by family but it was such an icon when it was that the name has never been changed. I can't remember if Herbert or Herman owned it but the other owned a nursery that got sold off when I-495 was built in the late 60's or early 70's. "

One of my other Aunts is going to make a trip down there in the next week or so, maybe I can get her to take a few more pics.
