Ben hammin for quite a while now, but this is my first post. One hell of a resource for the real hot rodders glad to have all of you guys.

I have a real nice pair of 17 x 2 1/4 magnesium 12 spoke wheels that I purchased off the bay a couple of yeas ago and I am building my car around them. I am looking for some information on them. all that they have is a casting number on them. The wheels are out of town right now but I think the number is 117225. they are for anglia spindle, and have all of the bearings and dust covers and have never been polished I was told that they are
Romeo Palimedes wheels that were produced before American racing was founded and used on some of the early dragsters and altered cars. I was wondering if any of you mag masters out there may be able to give me any info on them. Just for the record, they are not for sale even if you are rich (maybee if you are rich enough but youd need to be crazy rich), but if you have a real nice set of 18" 12 spokes and need these for your cackle car, I might concider a trade. I am planning on running them on the street. Runners are great, but the tires are the same size as the bmx bikes I used to ride

I know the photo ****s but life goes on.

Do a search there has been plenty of stuff written about them. And using them on the street will most certainly be the end of them, they weren't designed for cornering forces.

Cool wheels but I wouldn't run them either. Especially on the street.

I will get them checked out before I run them. I know that these could be bad news on the street which is why i would like to find a pair of 18's for regular use in town (slow) Corners are just there so you appreciate a good streight line. IOnce I put these on my car, nothing else looks right. I am also looking for a pair of 15" mag spindle mount torque thrusts for daily use or for driving to local shows. The 12 spokes will be used for crusin and for shows and maybe a bit of weekend driving. At this point, I probably need another 15k to get this thing done so it will be a while. I keep telling my little brothers that I am collecting pieces so they can sell them off when I die. lots of cool toys, but the only runner I have is a 65 Chrysler New Yorker 2 dr

American is making the 5 spoke spindlemount again. They're aluminum, but if I could afford a set, I'd get them. I've got a set of magnesium 5 spokes and magnesium torque thrusts for my Anglia. They are only gonna get used for show though. Newer wheels for the track. I talked to someone that x-rays for a living and he didn't seem to think there was a way of x-raying the wheels that was bullet proof.
Can you get Rader 12 spokes for Anglia spindles?

Neat wheels, but I will echo what others have said here. Cornering with the weight of the engine so close will break them. A friend of mine had a set of similar americans on his altered and hit a little pothole on the return road and broke the bead edge off one. Towing, not driving!! Lippy

sounds unanimous. I love the wheels, but I certainly don't want to damage them or end up pushing dots with the axle. I figured that the trailer would be safe. not so sure now. will the 18's do any better for street use. any info on streetability of the aluminum repop wheels? I have also looked into 18" true spokes for the front, not nearly as good looking but will they handle light street use?
