I had one that looked just like that in my circle track stock car in 1957,used it for a gas tank. It came from military surplus junk yard in Tucson AZ . It's a low pressure gaseous breathing oxygen tank from aircraft. They had hundreds of them stacked up, people would buy them and make all sorts of things, mostly air tanks to service tires. It's my guess the tank came from military aircraft previous to '57, most likely of WWII vintage, possibly earlier, probably of B-17, B-29 , etc. variety.
Check it for leaks the one I have is stainless and leaked like crazy made out of stainless hair line cracks all over the ****ing thing. Sealed it and now using it for a fuel tank. Have fun
I paid way more than $2 at the garage sale for my Weber grill and it wasn't even yellow either. Cooool. Jay
I have an uncle that was in the service.....he "aquired" a few of those from the old Webb AFB in Texas. I have one and my brother has one. Make a great air tank. AIR PIG!
We had one just like it for an air tank at my Dads Sunoco in the 60's and 70's.I'd like to find another!
I have one of those that was converted to an aircompresser and now I am going to usee it for the airride for my 53 chevy. I am glad you posted it because I wondered what it was from.
