Yes, it IS!! Unfortunately, he now cannot make the trip with us - having some ignition problems.

I need to get some more photos of it. Very nice, clean car with original paint!! He has the engine compartment very clean and nicely detailed and the previous owner did alot of suspension work - sway bars, etc.
Great family hauler. Scott, his wife, and three little girls have taken trips to car events in it before...

Well, I know where you're staying! I was at a Chamber of Commerce function this morning at the OP Marriott, and saw the blue '63-1/2 outside in the special lot. Hope to see you tomorrow.

By the way, if you dig Galaxies, there's one that is sure to be there that you'll love. It hits all the KC cruises and shows. Turquoise Ranch Wagon, '64, with woodgrain trim, and a dual quad 427 with Cragars.

Sorry to miss the Galaxy fest, but my 22" wheels didn't come in so I'm just going to the Greaserama! ~Sololobo~

I guess I really don't know how to take this.... other than being somewhat offended.
I have nothing against Greaserama, just didn't want to try to fit both shows into one day.

The Goodguys show was pretty good today and we had a blast driving a few laps around the track. The Rumblejetts played for a while and there was a great selection of parts at the swap meet.

... ah, fuck it, I have no reason to justify our trip to the GG show, to you guys.... had a great time. Period.

Get in where you fit in.

  11. That's all that matters.... to me the track cruise makes shows like this one and Fort Worth etc. 100x better than any other show. I don't know about you guys, but at GG fort worth last year, I was in the back of the pack and had the speedo needle on the chevy buried on the back stretch...!! What a trip..

  12. we went friday morning and had a great time.. there are so many different kinds of cars, I love the variety.

Wish I had time and money for both the shows, that trip around the track would be worth the price of admission! Do that during the day and party at the drive in during the night.... Maby next year! Later Rob

Glad you had a good time. I've been enjoying your pictures of the events you've been to. You going to post any of this trip? We all appreciate the work you put into them. It does take alot of time to put together. Thanks

Hey Malcolm - didn't get to catch up with you, but I did get a good look at your Galaxie. Love the flaked and scalloped roof.

By the way - things are getting pretty fucked up when someone is made to feel like he has to JUSTIFY driving his custom a few hundred miles to attend a hot rod event with a few thousand other rods in attendance...

Nick, the last thing i would want to do is offend my pal that I respect. I was just kiddin around, The GoodGuy shows always have some 22" stuff there but are lost in the hoarde of killer rides. GoodGuys run shows extremely well and don't draw as many lines as far as traditional shows do. You and your crew wouldn't be sporting any 22' wheels on anything. I wish I could have made both shows but only had time for one. The Greaserama had a record number of rides, we were blessed with a nice day also. Plus it would be worth going just to see and hear The Rumblejetts!! Hope you are cool with this explanation. Spank my ass!! ~Sololobo~

There both good shows, I just don't happen to think NASCAR tracks are a good venue for car shows. Especially this one. I've spent to much time waiting in lines to get in and out and it seems the track people really don't appreciate hot-rod guys invading there turf.
I'm not sure why you would be offended or feel you have to justify going to a GG's event with all the places you've been this year (no one directed any comments at you) Seems a little thin skinned for someone who bangs on people for trailering there cars:rolleyes:. I would have liked to have gone, (although I would have went to the Greaserama) you guys are always fun to travel with. I decided to stay home this weekend and try to go to the Starliner in Whitchita next week.
Hope you guys had a good time and the Galaxies made it without a hitch. Gary

hey - you should have called me - I would have got you in as a spectator at the Greaserama - I get a couple of extra passes and did not use them this year since I have no friends(poooooor me)

you could have parked your car right behind the screen......and I am sure you guys hung out in the parking lot of your hotel for late nights............well the Saturday night at Greaserama was still hopping at 1 am......

so next year - go to the Good Guys during the day - then come over to the Greaserama at night

Larry, I obviously took what you said the wrong way. At the time (I took it personally) it just seemed like I was catching flack from a couple of friends for going to the GG event. Yeah, I was a bit touchy for some reason... could've been other people (that I don't even know) throughout the day at the GG show that told me I should go to the Greaserama 'cause my car would fit in there, with the rest of the 'rat rods'. Man, some people just don't get it.
Also, I'm pretty open-minded about other cars and do like some that are tastefully done with the 17-18-19-20" wheels. I think there are some that get the wrong impression of me, when it comes to that stuff.

Anyways, no worries, I just needed to lighten up, Francis! :)

Gary, we talked about the track venue some on the phone. It had been four years since we'd been to this GG event, mostly because it was a clusterf**k getting in and out of the track, as well as trying to maneuver through the cars in the infield. I gave this event another chance (mostly because a group of good friends were going) and it was much better this year. Getting in and out of the track went smoothly, as well as driving through the infield to get a parking spot. Lining up for the track cruises seemed to go more smoothly, also. They didn't even make a big deal when I went to line up with friends, even though I had a pass for a different time-slot. So, all-in-all, it was much better this year and I'd go back. I think it helped that the weather was good, besides a little rain on Saturday afternoon.

Yes, I've made some 'trailer queen' comments (didn't know it bothered you that much), but you know it's all in good fun. Heck, I catch my fair share of crap from friends... that's for sure.

All-in-all, I just got the (wrong) impression that we were getting 'bagged' on for going to the GG event, instead of the Greaserama.

Done deal. Lets move on to the next event....
    Nick.

So, let me get this right BOTH events are held in the exact same town on teh exact same weekend?

Nick, Randy, Mr Omaha Oldsmobile called me and said he saw your car there but couldn't find you. He rode with friends so his car wasn't there. I went to this event the very first year they had it at this venue and had a blast driving around the track. I think it was 2003 and it was cold all weekend. Glad you had a good time. Looking forward to the photos.

Yes, two car events in the same city on the same weekend.
It's been that way for quite a few years, from what I remember, and actually seems to work out ok.

Damn, I wish I would've run into Randy! I wasn't around my car a whole lot. Walked around a bunch checking everything out...

yes - they are in the same town - same weekend - it is a great time for real hot rodders to be in town. I know a couple of guys that drove from Maryland - hit the Davenport Iowa Antique Bike Swap and Races, then drive down Friday night and were up and at 'em for the Good Guys Sat. Morn.

    Sat evening- Greaserama

    drove back home on Sunday.

Talk about getting the most mileage outta your road trip!

What is amazing to me is that there are still so many people that dont know about the Greaserama, but I guess that is because only the "cool kids" show up to the Greaserama
