Let me kick it off this morning with Revell's new '32 Ford 5-window done in late fifties East Coast style. The engine is a Cadillac taken from Revell's '49 Mercury. I also took the wheels and tires from that kit.
I come to realize that everyone has a plateu or level of talent the they achieve. I've been building for 50 years, and still haven't reached this level of build quality. Really nice stuff!
Modelhaus also makes a simulated finned brake backing plate, looks pretty good. The RMoM ones are more realistic in width. I think I've shown this within the last few weeks but here is where the 32 3w is at as of now... I think I'm going to get back to an old build finally for the truck build off. This is a 53 Ford that was loosly based off some Thom Taylor illustrations from R&C a few years ago. And last is the finalized stance on the 61 Olds F-85
RoccoATX : Here are the Modelhaus finned backing plates.I did not detail them so they could be made to show better with some different color washes etc...
2002P51: Please tell me about your photo background... It really makes your build pop, is it just black construction paper?
Sort of. It's something that photographers use called "seamless" paper. That particular one is a roll about four feet wide. It's mounted on a stand behind the shooting table and forms a natural sweep behind the model. Here's what the set-up looks like:
Dano, where did the intake air scoops come from? I need some of those for sure. 2002p51, thanks a bunch for that shot. I have always wanted to know how some of you guys were getting those outstanding pics. I see how far behind my posterboard box is,lol.
Me too. I bought those through mail order way back in the seventies! I no longer have any idea where I got them or if something like that is still available. Now, as you can see in the photo, I just buy those fold-up style magazine files that they sell in all the big-box office supply stores.
since you helped me by showing your photo set up... I just was looking for the Mag boxes recently and still have one of the stores in my browser memory. http://www.uline.com/BL_8353/?pricode=wq21
Nice work guys! Even I have made some progress in my ol' 49'er Did the darn metal foil today: Also found out that the tranny would intefer with the finished interior. Thought that it was easier to shave the tranny than change the hump: Then I moved on to the DRY original decals, a lot of work before they looked right: It seems like I don't like to paint, not to do the bare metal foil and not to fix the decals... Sometimes I wonder what keeps modelling alive ... ? I guess the challenge is the correct answer for me
I'm working on a 1/8th scale Corvette, it's going to be a variation of the Mercedes transporter, kinda like the Moon/Cheetah transporter. Here's a rough photoshop of the idea: Here's where i'm at. Body is 22mm wider (except the nose). Lengthened 90mm at door opening, and 150mm in front of the front wheels for the cab: Cab is currently just mocked up. Actually, I had to cut the frontend off, and redo it, as it was slightly off. Filled in the body, and added the peak down the middle. There's going to be a pair of rails on the bed for the car to sit on. Going to carry another 65 Vette, set up as a full bodied sidewinder style drag car. Gonna paint it up as a pretend Chevy Sponsored exhibition drag team.
thanks! Here's a link to my photobucket folder, showing what's been done so far. Haven't touched it in a couple of weeks, I need to get moving on it again before it gets brushed aside! Maybe i'll work on the chassis for a bit. Considering making it a dually, but I haven't decided yet. 65 Corvette Transporter Album.
Just an FYI, I bought mag boxes like these at IKEA. Standard white cardboard. I think they had other types too but don't remember 100%. Nice models everyone. I SOOOO need to get back working on mine. Too much time spent on the 1:1 scale.
Thanx Cut55, it will probably be all done by next Sunday ) And yes, why hide the 'ol goodie kits in a closet? They should be built!
